Single Review: Wicked Smile - Daze Of Delirium (Heavy Rock, 2022)

When it comes to playing Metal music that could be used on a party many bands often use cliché lyrics. It surely fits to the mood and is surely easier to write but it misses out a chance of talking about something important.

The cover art of Wicked Smiles single comes as a unique photography.

Heavy Rockers Wicked Smile from Australia don't go this route. The topics featured on the debut "Wait for the night" have a range from civil unrest, bullying up to mental health.

The newest single is set as a bold stomping track. After a short guitar introducer the music begins it's heart beating work. It quickly becomes evident that the song calls to have a good time.

Anyway it's not that easy to come by. The vocals go a direct line in the verses but start to splitter up in the refrain. The guitars follow this path like as if they crack up from time to time. It offers a more abrasive side but makes the listener having more and more rounds to get through it. It plays around with the riff which hangs in my mind afterwards.

This hardly comes as a surprise once you know that lead vocalist Danny Cecati (ex Pegazus & Eyefear) stands behind the microphone while Stevie Janevski and Dave Graham are to be heard on guitars. It has a good duration - not too long but also not too short so it's good to enjoy.

What's coming up next ?  The boys have announced an upcoming headline tour of the United Kingdom in November, where they will also perform at renowned festivals such as Hard Rock Hell and Winter Storm.

Wicked Smile were also recently added to the Silverback Touring roster where the boys have an upcoming Australia wide December tour with rock legends Skid Row.

Make sure to connect with them through Facebook to hold the line.

Scars and Guitars Volume 1 let's you be part of a interview

Here's a little Ebook recommendation for all of you out there who like me have a passion for reading interviews with musicians. People creating the music we all love often have a lot to say. Not only about the art they create but also about the way they live, the way life happens to them or what they have experienced and overcome in all of these times. These conversations often feel to me as if we're often passing similar stations ins life.

Contained within the pages of Scars and Guitars, Volume 1, you’ll discover thoughts and recollections from conversations with over 90 podcast guests of Andrew McKaysmith.

You’ll read excerpts from conversations with the members of bands playing their trade under the broader banners of rock, classic rock, heavy metal, industrial, death metal, black metal, deathcore, thrash metal, punk, and reggae, featuring musicians as diverse as Michael Schenker (MSG/ Scorpions), Don Felder (Eagles), Erik Danielsson (Watain) Phil Campbell (Motörhead), Al Di Meola, Adam Darski AKA Nergal (Behemoth/ Me and That Man), George Lynch (Dokken) as well as bumper entries featuring conversations with the members of Morbid Angel, Anthrax, Megadeth, Napalm Death, Testament, Corrosion of Conformity, and Cradle of Filth, to name just a few.

The value in Scars and Guitars, Volume 1, is the sense that, as a reader, you are now a part of the conversation. Andrew has a knack for allowing the person he is talking to feel at ease, which is how he obtains deep insight into their thoughts and feelings. As you read through the book’s many entries, you’ll feel as though you were there, an observer at the time of the conversation.

I've just checked out little potions of the book and it's amazing to see that it works. It feels more as if you were directly transfered to the place of the interview and experienced the whole scene for yourselves.

Have a look into some sample of the books at the trader of your trust.

Single Review: Leatherjacks - Baby Hit and Run (Rock 'n' Roll, 2022)

The times we're living in look a bit dark. But music helps us to get through all of this. The new Leatherjacks single is a wave of pure rocking out for the Rock 'n' Roll fun to me.

The Jackers made some progress with the release of a new single.

Having followed the band project for some time now the Brazilians have made a strong movement from basic rockers on to more experienced one's. The highlight came to me as the "Extremely Dangerous" album surfaced. It showed that they were able to get on point more than ever with more compact songs that riffed a lot.

These days the newest release flies to us as a digital single. In the beginning it all starts with pureness and attracts with it's simplicity. The rush of good feelings already shines in here. But something else is also present.

It's a progression in songwriting. The music builds up more clever, showing more twists and quickly makes it clear that it's not as simple as it felt in the beginning. It's not predictable where the rocker goes next and that points to the next evolutionary step the Leaterjacks made with this release.

The guitars have been added a technical level. They are set to go faster than ever, taking more various shapes and showing the whole ability that the Fretboard offers. You can hear that the more intensive music comes slightly multi-layered every here and there (for example the bridge towards the refrain).

"Baby Hit and Run" can be heard more than just one time. To get into all the details more rounds are needed.

Make sure to tune in here or check your preferred streaming platform. It's well worth it.

Finally follow the Jackers on Facebook so you won't miss out on further releases.
