Single Review: Leatherjacks - Baby Hit and Run (Rock 'n' Roll, 2022)

The times we're living in look a bit dark. But music helps us to get through all of this. The new Leatherjacks single is a wave of pure rocking out for the Rock 'n' Roll fun to me.

The Jackers made some progress with the release of a new single.

Having followed the band project for some time now the Brazilians have made a strong movement from basic rockers on to more experienced one's. The highlight came to me as the "Extremely Dangerous" album surfaced. It showed that they were able to get on point more than ever with more compact songs that riffed a lot.

These days the newest release flies to us as a digital single. In the beginning it all starts with pureness and attracts with it's simplicity. The rush of good feelings already shines in here. But something else is also present.

It's a progression in songwriting. The music builds up more clever, showing more twists and quickly makes it clear that it's not as simple as it felt in the beginning. It's not predictable where the rocker goes next and that points to the next evolutionary step the Leaterjacks made with this release.

The guitars have been added a technical level. They are set to go faster than ever, taking more various shapes and showing the whole ability that the Fretboard offers. You can hear that the more intensive music comes slightly multi-layered every here and there (for example the bridge towards the refrain).

"Baby Hit and Run" can be heard more than just one time. To get into all the details more rounds are needed.

Make sure to tune in here or check your preferred streaming platform. It's well worth it.

Finally follow the Jackers on Facebook so you won't miss out on further releases.

Cassidy Paris kicks you out of sorrow with Wannabe single

Music has the power to get me through difficult times. This single is a fine example on how this works.

The coverart for the new Cassidy Paris output "Wannabe".

It's foundation is based on a pumping solid rock 'n' roll riff that's ready to explode like octane. It's mixed along with a smooth rhythm section that gives me a positive push. But all of this comes to a boil when the vocals come touching in.

In the beginning it's going all easy with verses going step by step. But wait until the refrain starts. I bet you won't get this out of your mind once heard.

Finally it's also material to shake your legs to it so that's prove it's pure Rock 'n' Roll. Make sure to follow Cassidy Paris as she and the band move further to the next steps. A EP called "FLIRT" is said to come out September 1st 2021.

Besides all the fun the music spreads the lyric content inside speaks out a serious message as vocalist Cassidy Paris explains: "It focuses on the obsession today’s youth has on popularity and how they are willing to sacrifice their friendships and integrity. The youth of today are not able to be original. They all want to be Tik Tok or You Tube Stars.  I have never really understood how people can fake friendships. Talentless people are trying to become famous for doing nothing at all”.  Yet it was a pattern that was becoming all too familiar, Cassidy explains about the inspiration behind the song. “This song is how people fall into the pattern of becoming followers and focussed on materialistic possessions and fame”.

XII Boar return as Twelve Boar with new album

These days the news reached my inbox that a new album of UK Rock 'n' Rollers Twelve Boar is on the way. The band decided to re-brand from XII Boar to Twelve Boar and announced the release of their third effort "No Forgiveness" (this means that the band made one album each year - going strong in my eyes).

In the words of the band we can expect "brash, Motörhead-esque riffage, huge sing-along choruses and an overwhelming sense of fun injected into every song." So far they shared the artwork and new logo which reminds me of old C64 and Amiga Computer games - I loved that thing on first sight.

Tower Of Babel give razor-sharp preview to coming album

Some bands come around and you've never heard of them before and they surprise you with music blowing you away. It's been like this with Tower Of Babel for me.

This band features vocalist Csaba Zvekan (Exorcism, Raven Lord, Metal Machine), virtuoso guitarist Joe Stump (Raven Lord, HolyHell, Reign of Terror), bassist Nic Angileri (Exorcism, Jorn), keyboardist Maestro Mistheria (Vivaldi Metal Project) and drummer Mark Cross (Tainted Nation, Outloud, Firewind, Helloween, Metalium) and has released the first full track of the upcoming album "Lake of Fire".

The song comes along with great razor-sharp guitars that really nail the riffs. It's mixed loud and this adds a good potion of agression to the sound in my ears. The vocals are also standing out since they are held in a higher, lightly screamed yet clear way - something you don't hear everyday. It adds a great feel to the track.

It's surely a song for all the lovers of classic Rock 'n' Roll in the way of the 70's/80's. I had to think of early Axel Rudi Pell mixed up with ingridents of Yngwie Malmsteen while listening to this one.

Tower Of Babel will put out their album Lake of Fire on July 20th.

XII Boar show different side of their musical talent

XII Boar came along as a typical Rock 'n' Roll band to me. Their album "Pitworthy" is a record dedicated to the die hard metal fans and is serving a hefty brew of Heavy Metal mixed up with elements of Blues music. The sound reminds me of a combination of acts like Motörhead and ZZ Top that has been fueled up with a lot of intensive heavyness. A fine mixture if you like that stuff.

These days the band has come around with a brand new track "Black and Blues" of the follow-up album "Beyond The Valley of The Triclops". As the title already reveals it includes a good potion of Blues music with it but as for me it is far more.

It shows how diverse XII Boar are able to perform on their instruments. They present a good potion of technical abilities aside from the all too present distortion heavy music is mostly anticipated with through the use of harmonica and acoustic fingerpicking.

The song is taken of XII Boars current album "Beyond The Valley of The Triclops". Make sure to have a look at the band's homepage or use social networks such as Facebook or Twitter to pick up more detailed info on the record.

Grey Shack (Chennai, TN, India) release new single titled 'She Bites

So how do you start into a new day? As for me there is nothing better than to start with music. This track here is a real kicker, it is straight forward Rock and Roll that is going directly to the heart. Enjoy and also read the text about the meaning of the lyrics. I think it is a interesting look into the way things develop in the society of India these days. Even more cool that a band of this sort of music talks about it in their music.

On 14th February 2015 - Valentine's Day, Chennai based Rock n' Roll / Hard Rock band Grey Shack launched a new track, aptly named 'She Bites.' The song, the second of six releases collectively called 'The Soundgarden Sessions' is one of the first songs written after the band's debut album 'Step Outside' was released in August 2012. 'Country Song,' the first song from the release was released in April 2014.

Grey Shack's vocalist Rohan Sen says about the creation process and the lyrics of the track: “'She Bites' came to us as a song written by a beautiful strong independent woman. We wrote a chorus and the rest just fell into place. It is a song that portrays both sides to the strong Indian woman of today - beautiful and radiant, yet driven and focused on what she wants, in every way possible.”

The release of ‘She Bites’ signifies a stronger focus towards the band's 2nd full length album, aided by the success of the band's first international show at the European Bike Week in Austria in September 2014. The planned launch of the album is late 2015, followed by regional and international shows in support of the release.

Make sure not to miss about about the further band activities and visit their social sites on FacebookTwitter and Bandcamp to stay in touch with them.

Hollywood Groupies kick out straight Rock 'n' Roll with new EP

The weekend is knocking on our doors. What could be better to kick it off with some rough Rock 'n' Roll that goes very straight without any further ado?

Let's do so with the the Italian hard rockers from Hollywood Groupies. They have just returned with four solid and adrenalinic songs which follow their debut album “Punched By Millions Hit By None” released in 2010.

Their sounds reminds me a lot of W.A.S.P. with the screaming vocals all over present in the songs. Their optical presentation also brings up all the traditional trademarks of a Rock 'n' Roll formation in a positive and cool way.

Their newest effort is the fourtrack EP entitled "Bitchcraft". Listen to the fresh release right here and have a good start into some free time (hopefully):

I love the way the band brings up the power for the songs. It's music that keeps me pushing forward and gives a positive vibe. It's like this "let's do it" feeling that you get through listening to the music. That's something only few things in life bring to you, so we should appreciate it in my eyes.

The EP features four pieces of hard rock punctuated by powerful and adrenalinic episodes like the first single "Helter Jester", or "Get It On" which proves, more than any other song, the band’s evolution with its extremely catchy chorus. Then we have "The Empress", played by an insistent rhythm section and scratchy guitars that create a hypnotic melody recalling magic somehow, which is the EP’s main theme: all the songs tell life stories in an mystic-esoteric way, giving the listeners the opportunity to have their own interpretation of the lyrics. "Sick twisted paradise" closes the record with a cool scream-along chorus which makes hope that this won't be the last tunes we've heard from this band. Keep it up!

The record can be purchased on music online stores like : iTunes, Spotify, Amazon, BandcampCdbaby and Deezer.

You can stay in touch with the band through Facebook, YouTube or Reverbnation.

Hollywood Groupies are:

Foxy (lead-vocal)
Kelly (lead-guitar)
Ace (rhythm-guitar)
Condor (bass)
