CD Review: Static-X - Project Regeneration Vol. 1 (Nu Metal, 2020)

Sometimes there are these tunes that give you hope. This happened to me as I heard the new Static-X album "Project Regeneration Vol.1". One of the good sides of listening to music is that it is a source of good feelings. These came up quickly as I had these songs pumping out of the speakers.

It's the mixture of the heavy riffing with the driving force of the drums on the one hand that gave me good feelings. But all of this was topped by the vocals that always kept going up and down and always shining through in deep emotional shapes. It feels as if at times my feelings could speak through the noise that can be heard.

Most of the time it's pure aggression coming out but on some tracks like "Bring You Down (Project Regeneration)" it also comes in waves of fear and sometimes despair. Few electronic effects underline this. That's something I love to hear.

A track like "My Destruction" illustrates the band's potential to transform today's merciless society's behaviour through straight and rough thrashing. It has lot's of mean laughs in it that sound like the evil showing it's face in it's many incarnations. Impressive to hear that music can make such things visible to the human ear.

The keyboards on "Something Of My Own (Project Regeneration)" follow more positive vibes, yet it has broken feelings in it the track shines a more lighter and better note out of it.

These are my favorites of the album. What are your faves ? Let me know in the comments below.
Make sure to buy a copy out of the band's hands.

Static-X distress the soul with new single "All these years"

In a time when stress takes so much of us it is more urgent than ever to put
something against these feelings. Something that lifts you back up again.
Something that makes the soul shine.

The new Static-X Single "All these years" does that for me. It has this
calming and coming back down to earth feeling in the verses. The heavier and aggressive side comes back in when the refrain takes it's place.

It's the latest preview to the upcoming output "Project Regeneration Vol. 1"
which has been postponed to be released on July 10th 2020.

It's currently up for pre-order digitally through Apple Music, Amazon or in limited physical formats such as marbled vinyl or signed CDs. The coverart has been updated since my last post about the band being victim of thiefs robbing their equipment.

The new cover fits better to the music of the band in my ears.
PROJECT REGENERATION Volume 1 features 12 brand new STATIC-X tracks, containing many of the final vocal performances and musical compositions of Wayne Static along with the original Wisconsin Death Trip lineup of bassist Tony Campos, drummer Ken Jay, and guitarist Koichi Fukuda. Both volumes are being worked on by longtime STATIC-X producer Ulrich Wild.

Track List:
1. Regeneration
2.Hollow (Project Regeneration)
3. Worth Dyin For
4. Terminator Oscillator
5.All These Years
6. Accelerate
7. Bring You Down (Project Regeneration)
8. My Destruction
9. Something of My Own (Project Regeneration)
10. Otsego Placebo
11. Follow
12. Dead Souls

Help Static-X to get back stolen music equipment

It's hard to see musicians being often a target for attack. Why? These people share so many good things and ask for so few in return. I cannot understand why these humans are often treated so bad.

Stealing from artists is such a thing I cannot understand. But it happend once more. Please help the bands to get their equipment back. You can give hints and check the list of stolen items at Static-X's website. I'm sure they are offered somewhere. Please let them know if you've seen this stuff.

STATIC-X & DOPE GEAR STOLEN AT HEIGHT OF CORONAVIRUS LOCK DOWN

STATIC-X have filed a police report with the LAPD, siting that their warehouse space (which is also shared with the band Dope) was recently robbed of nearly 200K worth of touring equipment during the Corona Virus Lockdown.

The two bands were advised to take the story public, in order to help raise awareness with other small business owners and bands alike.

“With most of us in lock down, and those who aren’t locked down, wearing masks in public, apparently it’s a great time to be a thief”, says Static-X drummer Ken Jay.

The band has released a statement on the robbery:

“We want to encourage our community to keep a close eye on your property and on your facilities during this unprecedented time… We also ask for our fans to keep an eye out for the stolen items and maybe we can help the police find these people."

The band has publicized a list of stolen equipment, complete with many of the serial numbers. The list includes: Multiple LED video panels, 2 drum kits, 40+ cymbals, various high end audio/video gear, microphones, racks, branded backdrops, etc.

They have also set up a tip center where you can share any info that may help in the investigation.

If you cannot help with hints please consider buying the band's goods on offer - for example the upcoming record "Project: Regeneration Vol.1". The first single "Hollow (Project Regeneration)" can be streamed or downloaded at https://lnk.to/projectregeneration and limited edition, exclusive pre-orders are currently available at https://static-x.org/apps/bundles/bundle/21189 Have a listen right here to the single.
