Found footage Shocker "Dwellers" to kick off this Saturday

This particular movie could be worth a look at because it's told in a found footage format, something that the "Blair Witch Project" introduced for the first time in 1999.

Let's see if "Dwellers", produced by Ellefson Films (the new film company of Megadeth bassist David Ellefson) can bring something new into the horror genre.

A sign reveals that something has happend to these people...
Dwellers has been described as being, "C.H.U.D. if it were shot like The Blair Witch Project." The film stars: Drew Fortier, James L. Edwards (Her Name Was Christa), Douglas Esper (The Nutshell) and Omar Baig (Let's Make a Movie).

Also featuring cameos from the film's producer, David Ellefson, as well as former Mushroomhead vocalist, Jeff Hatrix. It has been written and directed by Drew Fortier.

The film's plot is as follows:
While shooting a documentary on the suspicious disappearances within the homeless community, a filmmaker and his crew go missing while uncovering a terrifying and vicious secret below the city's surface.

The first screening has been announced for this coming Saturday, March 20th 2021 as a part of the HorrorHound Film Festival's Midnight Madness Feature and will hold a special virtual Q&A after the screening that will feature cast members from _Dwellers_.Tickets go just for 10 Dollars for the whole event with plenty more of content.

Ticketing information can be found here: https://horrorharound.com/News/Details/333

The trailer gives a first glimpse of what is about to come up.

Later in the year on October 12, 2021, a Blu-ray/DVD/Digital release will see the light of day. The physical release is planned to be packed with bonus features. More details to be released in the coming months along with pre-order information.

David Ellefson will also be making various appearances throughout the year at horror conventions and fan expos to screen Dwellers. Keep up with Ellefson's social media on Facebook for more details.

Movie Review: Date From Hell (Horror Short, 2019)

Some dates are horrible. That's the way it looks like with the pair that can be seen in the beginning of the horror short movie "Date From Hell". The two have a little controversity going on (like so many have) and finally the man stands up. He had enough and leaves. She follows him and he disappears in a sideway.

Afterwards the movie starts a life of it's own. I won't spoiler anything here just saying that it will keep you shocked, laughing and wondering behind once you finish the full movie. I never thought it would be possible to do such a strong film in such a limited duration.

But this is in fact way better than many movies I've seen that last for the standard 90 minute format. This is even more surprising for me as I'm not the strongest horror movie fan at all - please take this as a sign for a strong recommendation to check "Date From Hell" out. For a first teaser I can give you a small look inside with the official trailer. You'll get a idea of what it is all about.

I could even imagine this to be a new trend since time is always limited but sometimes you have a few spare minutes on your hands. That's the moment people may seek something like this. Anyway, make sure to visit a screening near you or stream it of the official sources.

The first screening will be September 13th 2019 at GAS MONKEY Bar & Grill in Dallas, TX, as part of their CORPSEPAINT SHOW PARTY benefiting FOUNDATION 45 Powered by FANGORIA, where the film can be viewed alongside "Satanic Panic" and "Road Trash".

The second screening, coinciding with the film's official release on ALTER, will be September 16th 2019 at Independence Brewing Company in Austin, TX. This will be coupled with the official INDIGNANT DOG FILMS formation party, celebrating the creation of IDF whose founders (Ven Scott, Brandon Torres, and Tracee Beebe) were thrown together for the production of Date From Hell.

Comedy/Horror Mockumentary reveals a murderous grapefruit

In these all too serious times we're living in I think it's great to have a laugh. It helps so much to lift the mood up and to make things easier to bare and take.

So I was happy when this short horror/comedy movie found it's way into my inbox.

While filming Sister Mercy in Los Angeles, California last week, production assistant Noah "Shark" Robertson created a short film entitled 'Murderous Grapefruit'. The idea sprouted from the on-set, inside jokes between the crew and cast. A large grapefruit tree inhabited the house where shooting was taking place, and grapefruits were soon wreaking havoc on various members of the Sister Mercy team.

Sister Mercy is the new upcoming thriller from director, William Boodell, which is currently in post-production. Boodell is known for his work on Born of Sin (2017), 40 Days and Nights (2012) and Rise of the Zombies (2012); he also edited Sharknado!

Robertson, previously known for his work as a drummer in bands such as The Browning and Motograter, has stepped into the comedy arena in 2018. This year he directed the short film 'Shower Sharks' and embarked on a Comedy Tour. Robertson made his Comedy Store debut in Hollywood, California on June 4th.

Shower Sharks coming to a bathroom near you

In these all too hard times we're living in having a laugh is great. Here is a little preview of a horror/comedy short film that is currently in the works by musician Noah "Shark" Robertson, known as drummer of bands such as Motograter and The Browning and founder of Zombie Shark Records and Swimming with Sharks Records. It comes around a bit funny and slightly scary so it made me curious about what is coming up there.

Shower Sharks synopsis:

Noah, a shark-obsessed, struggling musician, has begun writing a screenplay for a low-budget feature film entitled, Shark Slayer. Scrambling to complete his script, his town of Surf Beach, California is turned upside down when news spreads of a small, unknown species of aggressive shark making its way up shower drains and attacking people while they are bathing. Noah remains skeptical, until he comes face to face with the menacing monsters himself. Will he complete his epic masterpiece, or succumb to the peril of the Shower Sharks?

Until 7nd of May 2018 a GoFundMe Campaign is running that let's you pre-order a copy of Shower Sharks as DVD. 15 Dollars a copy are asked for to cover the costs of finishing the movie, printing it on Digital Versatile Discs as well as submitting it to proper festivals. The film is slated to hit horror movie festivals in October of 2018 .If you order you'll have your name in the credits and will get a signed copy on DVD with bonus material.

As for me this looks cool because low budget often means you have to work around stuff and things and can not rely on special effcts alone. That can end up in something different compared to mass market releases. Finally: how will the soundtrack turn out like? Well let's keep a eye on the Facebook page of Noah "Shark" Robertson to keep up to date about what's going on in the Shower Sharks camp.
