Power Thrashers Sanktuary start Space Race to the upcoming album

The thing that always keeps me coming back to Thrash Metal music is the fact that it doesn't fiddle around too much. It goes straight to the point and keeps pushing on forward very, very heavy. It doesn't stop nor does it look back, it just pushes on straight forward all the time and that's a great feeling. There nothing more frustrating than being stuck somewhere.

The band Sanktuary provides us with this power to move on. The band who is located in the harsh and blisteringly cold of the deep far North of Canada's Yukon Territory situating themselves in the city of Whitehorse is currently preparing the release of their their new self-release album 'Winter's Doom'  on January 22, 2016.

This first full track of the record entitled "Space Race" should give you a positive push of power to move on in your life. To me it reminded me a lot of the old 80's charme albums of Exciter or Metal Church had mixed up with today's songwriting structures of band's such as Evile. Enjoy. :-)

The full album will feature seven killer high speed, breakneck thrash metal tracks inspired by the Yukon's far North they call home along with other issues such as politics, technology, etc..

As the band points out about the first single Space Race: "It's about... the race to space! Superior technology, more advanced weapons, a more modern cold war kind of feel."

Full package of shred with first single from Ol Drake

Today I've got something special for all of you guitar freaks out there that love the shred style and find some of the well known guitarists in the thrash sector amongst their all-time favorite list.

Former Evile lead guitarist Ol Drake has released the first single from his upcoming debut solo album, 'Old Rake'. The track features guest appearances from Gary Holt (Exodus/Slayer), James Murphy (Death/Testament/Obituary) and Josh Middleton (Sylosis) and is - somewhat suitably - called "Guitarists Playing Guitars"!

I love that title because when drummers are playing drums what do guitarists do? Playing guitars of course and that's what the guys really do on this track. While the basics of the track are kept straight forward and with a typical riff it's the solo guitar sections that give this track something special. Some of them are really outstanding and leave you behind asking how the heck that might have been done.

You can check out the track below or listen to it on Spotify. Go and check out Ol Drake on this years edition of the Bloodstock Open Air which takes place from August 6th - 9th at Catton Park in Derbyshire, UK. The current timetable lists his performance for Sunday, August 9th on the Sophie stage.

Ol Drake's debut solo album, 'Old Rake' features instrumental guitar encompassing a myriad of styles, including flat-out shredding, classical, progressive, melodic and acoustic.  The album is due to be released on June 22nd in Europe and June 23rd in the USA.

The album is available to pre-order now on CD and limited edition signed CD, and for anyone brave enough to want to try playing the songs for themselves, there's also a deluxe 242-page tab book featuring full tablature for both guitar and bass, transcribed by Ol himself!
Pre-order the 'Old Rake' CD, signed CD and official tab book now in Europe at http://webstore.earache.com/ol-drake or in the USA at http://uswebstore.earache.com/ol-drake

The album is also available to pre-order now on iTunes, including an exclusive bonus track as well as an instant download of "Guitarists Playing Guitars", at http://bit.ly/oldrake-itunes

We'll leave you with a sneak peek of the official tab book (https://youtu.be/EFAm2-6mJkA), and for those of you crazy brave enough, here's the "Guitarists Playing Guitars" tab for you to try! http://bit.ly/1D5ofws

Full album streams from Evile, Megadeth and Tesseract available

Wow, these days many bands offer there albums on the internet for free streaming mostly even prior to the official release date. Today I'll give you a package of three bands, that have all set up their entire brand new albums for listening via the World Wide Web.

So let's start out with Tesseract and their album Altered State. The band has put quite a interessting concept behind their album, something that often run's across my mind - the changes in life we all go through and how we deal with them.

The band describes the concept in their own words: "The concept behind the presentation of 'Altered State' is very simple. It is about change, and how life is change. We have been through a very difficult period of time over the last few years. It is a miracle that the band has survived. I feel it is the ability to step back and see everything for what it is (hence the 'Perspective' EP) that has allowed us to get on with life and try to enjoy it. Reality is change."

Here is how the music turned out after this process:

It's been a sad day recently when I read about the sudden death of Slayer guitarist Jeff Hanneman. Rest in peace! You'll be always remembered for this unique playing style and some of the most intensive thrash songs ever.

If we focus on things there's often a feeling like it's black clouds and silver linings. Meaning most stuff doesn't look too good for some or other reason but there's sometimes a glimpse of hope hanging in the air.
As for this moment for me it's the young fresh bands that give these glimpse I'm talking about.

One of them is currently Evile, a young band digging also in this thrash direction. They got my attention some time ago when I first saw the video to the song "Cult" and now they are back with a fresh record entitled "Skull". Their record company has set up the whole album as a stream on youtube so without any further words enjoy it. :-)

Let's close these round-up with the full proven thrash music from US veteran's Megadeth that have just put out the new album called "Super Collider". Actually my very first impressions on this album are quite mixed but I'm looking forward to check out the full album later. First of all here is the link to the german Rock Hard magazine for you, so you can quickly check the record out for yourselfs. While you do so, why not leave a little comment here? I'd like to know what you think about these three albums.

Evile released EP and video for the song "In Memoriam"

Evile just released a EP for the outstanding song "In Memoriam" via itunes The package includes the full-length track, acoustic version, radio edit, and the music video itself that the band also uploaded on youtube. Perfect song if you miss/lost someone near you. That's why I like music so much - it expresses so much more than everything else could ever do.

Evile

Today two friends of mine have their birthday - happy birthday Claus and Thomas!

Here in germany there's a daily metal show up on TV called iMusic 1 rocks.(http://im1.tv/rocks). They do often show videos of new and unknown bands. A fine source for me. :-)

One bands video that came up lately was that of Evile's 'Cult'. That one fastly got me since I love thrash. Whilst you can easily hear the traditional roots of the band (Megadeth,Annihilator and even Slayer comes to my mind) you can also hear fresh metal elements in there as well as for the vocals. But why not have a look yourselfs? Here's your chance to do so:

Have also a look at the band's website at
