Video Preview: Inoculum - Dissimulate (Alternative Groove Metal, 2018)

These days so many bad comments and hate floots the internet in my eyes.
The world badly needs some antidote. This band based from the Baltimore, MD (USA) area provides ripping out all these dark stuff and leaves behind some light with their upcoming new videosingle "Dissimulate".

The logo of the Alternative Groove Metal band Inoculum, (c) by Inoculum, used with kind permission

Heavy Metal Underdogs has been given the honour to check out the brand new Inoculum video in advance as a private screening. I was blown away by the sheer power and the will to create something that lasts as a piece of unique sound. That's why I would like to say that the guys play Dedicated Metal. It's comin' deeper from the heart than anything else out there.

The new track "Dissimulate" in detail
What got me so much about their sound is the combination of brutality and softer undernotes mixed  in. The song builds up softer, adds up with extra power and finally blows out the energy in one blast. It's not often coming along my way that the drummer takes over vocal duties. Here you can spot this rare ocassion and it's a fine contrast to the brutal assault of the main vocals. On other parts of the song both harmonize which adds a extra to the already excellent track.

The guitar riffs vary but give a more underlining note to the sound while the drums groove straight away something that's heavily supported through the use of a dark and deep toned bass sound. Inoculum doesn't just play the notes but lives them out with heartblood. The song feels nearly endlessly. I think a show of these guys must be a very intensive experience.

Video preview snippets
So far you can spot some scenes of the video on the start page of the band's world wide web presence.I think it will come with a deeper meaning. So far you can see some TV's that are destroyed and books burned by masked people taking people away from their places.

Well I think we need to wait until April 1st 2018 to know what the band exactly wants to express with this moving picture. The band has announced to premiere the video on their homepage.

Social Contacts and Future plans
Make sure to have a eye on their socials on Facebook or Instagram and Twitter to stay up to date in the meantime on how things move on. The band also has plans to tour with their material so promoters out there looking for a good band to book in the upcoming months would make a good pick with booking Inoculum.

Earthside take us on a cinema-like epic journey showing "A Dream In Static"

In the classic era of metal music videos became a popular thing to introduce new audiences quickly to the sound of a new band. It's the same these days but oppose to back then the moving pictures have evolved to some little art form of it's own - that's at least how I look upon things.

The basic core and center still is the same - a band performing the music they have created in a passionate way showcasing what they can do best. In addition these days videos have been added with a cinema like dimension. The productions have gotten much bigger and epic. Modern progressive bands Earthside's newest visual exposure is a fine example for this.

A screenshot taken from Earthside's newest video for "A Dream In Static", (c) by Earthside, used with kind permission

The mini-movie is a real epic, picture ladden film filled with various settings and places where the story takes place plus make-up and detailed theme-oriented clothing and surroundings that breathe a lot of atmosphere. Just look upon the screenshot above taken of the video and you'll quickly have a idea what makes this clip so special. Come and visit "A Dream in Static" featuring Dan Tompkins (Tesseract, Skyharbor) on vocals.

The music adds to it shaking you from heavy to dynamic passages while being hard and silk throughout the whole duration. It's taken of the band's current album "A Dream In Static" which you can listen and purchase on Bandcamp.

Make sure to stick further with the band during networks such as Facebook, Instagram or Twitter.

OrckOut take us "Far away from all" to reach our Destination

Midtempo thrash can offer great tunes. It doesn't always need to be fast. Brazil Stoner Thrashers OrckOut have put out a fresh tune of their latest EP "Destination" with strong and clear rhythm which keeps the music in a sharp style and tonality. It's easier to go through the structure of the track this way.

In addition the dark and rough vocals are something that sticks in the mind of the listener. The music holds a little surprise towards the end: it's rounded out by a extensive and outworked solo section something which you wouldn't have expected after the previous form of the video single.

If you'd like to hear the full EP click on to Soundcloud. Make sure to follow the band further through their website or a like on Facebook.

Living Dead Girl creates a world of virtual simulation

I'm always impressed to see how creative people are that write and record music. What I'm talking about is the fact of how simple the elements are that musicians use. If you take these and look at them separately they look as if they aren't much or could be enough to work out something bigger with them.

It's like this with this video of the dark electronica duo Living Dead Girl. The way the song starts out seems to be just a little song fragement. But the duo works out the track further with every minute throughout the whole song duration so in the end it grows and vibrates like a big song. It's a outstanding track. The same goes for the video. The electronica duo uses simple visuals but the way they combine and cut them make this moving picture something special.

You can pick up "Simulation" as a single download or along with some more tracks on the "Autumn" EP for a small price from the Bandcamp page of Living Dead Girl.

Jessica English (vocalist of Living Dead Girl) explains the meaning behind the song in these word: "It imagines a world where virtual stimulation strips us of personal interaction and expression, leaving us without a sense of realism or self. The song explores the search for humanity amongst the artificial. After a long search for the right director to work with, we went with fashion photographer and videographer Vasilisa Forbes, who helped us bring our imaginings to life. The video juxtaposes a clinical, plain setting with a bright, vibrant, simulated world. The two begin to blur as the video progresses, asking us to question which one is more real.”

Also make sure to follow the duo via Facebook, Instagram or add them on Spotify.

Flames Of Fury look for bassist and release new video

A good band always needs proper people to be able to continue on their journey. Sadly from time to time band members have to leave because of various reasons and it's not always easy to find new musicians who fit musically as well as clicking on the human side of things.

The same goes for New York / New Jersey based female fronted melodic power metal band Flames of Fury who are currently on the lookout for a new bass guitar player. Vocalist Angelica Valkyrie has checked in with a statement about the change in the band and the requirements the new four string player should meet:

"We are now actively seeking a permanent bassist to join the band and perform on future tours. Currently Flames of Fury is performing with bassist Mike LePond (Symphony X / Mike LePond's Silent Assassins). We have been so happy and honored to have Mike LePond perform with us onstage as our guest bassist, as he's definitely extremely busy! So now, the band has come to a crossroads, where we really have to have a permanent bassist with us for future touring. So help us get the word out to all potential candidates, as we are counting on securing a worthy replacement to join the band permanently. Interested candidates can contact Flames of Fury directly at: info@flamesoffury.com "

In the meantime the band is laying down the finishing touches to their debut full length album "Firestarter", which is scheduled for a independent release later in the year. To help skip the waiting time until more news about the release come in the band has set up a lyric video for the fan favorite "I Burn".

Valkyrie says about the video:

"We have wanted to give back to our loyal fans who have been with us from the very beginning, so we went back to our debut EP release and chose the song "I Burn" and immortalized it in a killer new lyric video. This song has been a fan favorite since our humble beginnings. Our desire has always been to create a video for it and now we finally have it. It's crazy, dark and Metal AF!"

Make sure to stay in touch with the band through their homepage or connect with them on Facebook.

Scarleth ask the sense of mind manipulation in new virtual reality video

Scarleth have premiered a great video about changing and altering your memories by replacing them with virtual reality. The great thing besides the blasting refrain that perfectly brings the message up to the point is the fact that the whole video comes packed in a style that looks like a video game / virtual reality itself and tells the story step by step to the viewer.

The lyrics are placed cleverly into the video as sort of advert messages or messages that are shown from a computer system. A excellent piece of video, I've not seen such a great mixture of story based video along with the lyrics. Don't hesitate and have a look for yourselves:

The track appears on their newest album called "The Silver Lining" and has been released in July 2015 by their label The Leaders. The band's webshop lists several ways how you can purchase the record.

Scarleth is a remarkable and experienced Ukrainian metal band playing music on joint of modern heaviness and diverse melodism. For the time being the band has played several hundreds of live shows, released two full-length albums worldwide and took part in festivals where Sergey Mavrin, Cherniy Obelisk, Dark Lunacy and other famous bands performed. The band’s style is expanding constantly and represents mind-blowing mixture of many melodic genres - from power, folk, doom and gothic metal to modern/progressive metal.

The band will play some shows in the upcoming time, here are the dates:

Romantic Rebel share ripping explosive video for "Too Far"

I like it when a band goes straight on it and rips it all up in their songs. It's like explosive fire and it can be such a positive kick of energy for yourselves when listening to a band's song like I did with this brand new video single of the hard rock band Romantic Rebel.

The fine thing about "Too far" is that it comes with pumping energy that originates from the pounding guitar riffs along with the hammering drums that change all the way through the song. The drums always seem to fit to the part that is currently played. On top of this there is a voice and lyrics that deeply push into your mind once heard and are hard to get out of the ear.

The band is currently in the studio with Grammy nominated producer, Johnny K (Disturbed, Pop Evil, Sevendust, 3 Doors Down, Megadeth, Machine Head, Nonpoint, etc.) where work has begun on their sophomore album.

I often asky myselves: what is the role of a producer what can they add to the music?
KT Paige, vocalist of the band gives some insight into the work that is currently going on in the studio:

"This EP is very special to us. Alex and I wrote these songs from the heart; about past experiences and struggles. That said, we were very attached to them and didn't want to see them change. Johnny, being the multi talented producer that he is, helped us take the songs we thought couldn't get any better, to a whole new level. It's amazing how a simple change in melody can make me feel even more emotional about a song than I had felt previously." Says KT Paige.

The track is off of their forthcoming EP to be released early Summer 2016 and is available for purchase at iTunes. LifeLike shows the good inside the bad

Sometimes a band logo picks up my attention. Some days ago a picture was spread on Facebook saying:

"This is the good inside the bad. (white dot in black spot as graphic)
This is the bad inside the good. (black dot in white spot at graphic)
This is life. (both sides mixed alltogether in one graphic)"

Looking at the sign of the band LifeLike this quote came back to my mind again. It seems to be thought out looking at the fact that the E of life can be found in the white coloured area while the L of the word like is kept in the dark but in a white style. The flash in the middle is also kept half half - just a bit as the famous Ying Yang sign symbolizing life
The logo of the band LifeLike, (c) by LifeLike, used with kind permission

But how does this band sound? I would say they are going all on it. Not holding back just giving completly in. That's what I felt when I had a look upon the fresh video of this Texas based band.

It feels great to see a band mixing up elements of today's metal scene along with classic riffing in the style of the past days. That's also been the intention as Chris guitarist of the band points out in his statement about the track:

"The song represents us bridging a gap and creating something we all grew up listening to at different periods of our lives. The audience will hear signs of old school metal riffs with a mix of nostalgic Pop-punk choruses."

"Turn The Pages" is taken of the band's self titled EP which is available from iTunes.

Check out their web or social pages to keep track of the further band activities or to pick up more info about them.

Exarsis helps people in need with care packages

Instead of talking about crisis and problems greece Thrashers Exarsis have decided to do something against the problems that really need a solution. They invested the mony they got for shooting their second video clip "Change of Plans" into food and other stuff that people living in the streets (immigrants, homeless etc.) desperately need and went out to share the care packages.

The whole action was filmed and is meant to be a motivational example for all the people watching it. It should engage people to follow the band's idea and help those who are in need. That's in short the message behind the clip like the band pointed out in a statement underneath their post of YouTube.
Heavy Metal Underdogs would like to support this great idea with sharing the video all around. I hope many people will pick the idea up and start something similar usefull like the band did with their time and money.

Exarsis are going to hit the road in a few days playing shows all across Europe together with Suicidal Angels, Lost Society and Fuelled By Fire. Check the flyer below for a city near you.

The track is the second single release of the current output "The human project". For more information on the band make sure to see their Facebook page or keep a eye on the band's website.

Justice Theorey release group-playthrough video for new single

If you've ever wanted to know instantly how to play that brand new track you've just heard from a band then Justice Theorey give you a chance to quickly get the idea of how to play that track properly.

Entitled "Necessary evil" the thrash metal band based in Finland have not "only" released that brand new song to the public but along with it a video with the mentioned insight of how to do it. The song itself is kept straight forward in a hard and dry way. I like the way of the production. It gives all instruments as well as the vocals the possibility to come out clearly. You can hear exactly what's going on, it's not so much confusion in it where you just have to listen several times to get through the various parts to point them all out.

Justice Theory plays a release show for the single/video at Rock Club Lutakko, Jyväskylä (Finland) on January 23rd 2016. So make sure to be there to give the band a good feedback for this excellent track.

Also make sure to follow the band further using Facebook or Twitter. This video has made me curious on the band so I've given 'em a like.

Surroundings speak about Elizabeths lost love in new video

Do you think it is possible to regain a love that is lost? Or are things between two hearts forever gone once they break up? Well, maybe these thoughts were running through the minds of the melodic hardcore band Surroundings when they wrote the song "Elizabeth".

The even more cool feature of this track besides the topic is that it is the first of a suite of two related singles, the other one called 'Jane', coming soon. I think many people out there will be able to relate to what can be seen in the video. I think everyone has loved at least once in his life and knows how it is if you want that person back because you miss that beloved person so much...

Leigh Kendell from the band says
"In a special place, Elizabeth is looking for a love long lost. She performs the ritual, a sign of what they once had. Creativity and artistry once brought them together; now it is their only hope to find each other again."

Musically I was very surprised that besides the brutality of the music the band found a place for melodic elements in the band's sound and that the vocalist also shows different sides of his voice in the track. Just give the song a chance don't judge too fast. I nearly was about to give up when I realized that this has some special elements lying inside the band's sound which make them quite different from other hardcore band's with a similar tonality. The song changes quite a lot through it's different stages also the overall feeling is very heavy.

It comes out the most intense, melodic and with a surprise towards the end of the track. This first song makes me curious on how the other single could sound like. And how may the story go on? Will it go on or will "Jane" come with a completly different idea that just is related to the same topic? I am keeping an eye on this for sure!

Odd Crew releases new album and video "Mark These Words"

Maybe you guys remember that I've written about the crowdfunding campaign of Odd Crew here on my blog some time ago. The campaign was a half-success on the financial side but the band refused to give up.

Problems with Visa's for America also made the original plans impossible but the band managed to work around this as well and re-deceided to record the album in Sweden with the help of Daniel Bergstrand as a producer, mixing was done by Jason Suecof and Alan Douches took care about the mastering of the new material.

The new album entitled "Mark These Words" will see the day of light in two days and you can still pre-order your copy through the band's website for 7,50 Euro plus shipping and handling. The band also opened up a presence of Bandcamp where you can get the songs digitally. Currently two tracks of the new record are available (Mark These Words and Lay On Me).

In the meantime check out the video for the title-track of the record. The refrain is a killer. I like the direct and brutal riffing along with the vocals. Those are kept heavy and hard but it's also great when they go over to the clean part. It's cool to see a vocalist changing without any ado from one style to another. Besides that the groove and push of the drums give a lot of positive energy to the listener. Enjoy. :-)

The band is also going to do some shows in support of the album, here are the exact dates with links to the venues on Facebook.

16.10 - Plovidv - Театъра / The Theater
17.10 - Burgas - Bar Bez Ime / БАР БЕЗ ИМЕ Бургас

Warfield release old-school thrashing video for "Barrage Fire"

Allright, the weekend has finally arrived for all of us. The perfect time in my eyes to let some pressure burn that has been built up in the recent days. One of the best ways to do so in my eyes is to grab some good old thrash classics and then headbang like there's no tomorrow. :-)

Happily young bands are still around that haven't forgotten all the lessons of the classic past but also maintain the style with adding own trademarks to the typical rough and pushing sound of this metal genre. A good example for that are Warfield from Germany.

(c) by Warfield, used with kind permission

While their sound reminds me on a first listen a lot of old school Bay Area bands and german classics such as Sodom or Destruction it also quickly becomes clear that they've added a straight forward feeling to the sound. It's not that monotone soundwise it goes with more diversity and most of all it's more direct and heavy leaving behind everything that could lead to a feeling of "the band has fiddled around to much with this and that". It's easier to go out of yourselves with the music. Just try it with the video below and have fun.

Lyrically the band set's a focus on political and social mistakes and also keeps a eye on the wars going on these days.

The band has put out a EP in 2014 entitled "Call To War" which you can purchase right here.

You can see Warfield live during the following shows in Germany:

10.10.15 Zweibrücken
11.12.15 Mainz
16.01.16 Landau
12.02.16 Kaiserslautern

Also make sure to check out their social sites such as Facebook, Youtube or BackstagePRO.

Tad Morose to kick off European Tour in September in support of new album "St. Demonius"

Things may take a while in life but in the end they can turn out for the good. That's what I thought when I got the info that Tad Morose will finally be able to play a proper tour for their brand new record entitled "St. Demonius". The band will be joined by their fellow countrymen in Silent Call, so you'll also be able to discover a new band if you don't know them yet. I've discovered a lot of new bands live and often it was a very pleasant surprise that came my way. So one more reason to go to one of the shows. :-)

The complete tour dates are shown on the poster below.

(c) by Tad Morose, used with kind permission

Tad Morose have been part of the heavy metal scene for over 20 years, and so far time they released seven studio albums. Their newest, eighth offering, "St. Demonius" is scheduled for the August 28th release via Despotz Records. The new album is the second release in a row featuring ex-Steel Attack singer Ronny Hemlin, after the release of 2013's "Revenant."

In an interview with metalshockfindland.com, guitarist Christer "Krunt" Andersson said about the new album following: "It’s Tad Morose kind of metal, a little bit more of everything I think. A lot of the lyrics are about the crap that’s going around in today’s world, people never ever seem to learn from history. And all the religious bullshit that’s going on, why can’t people just sit back, shut up, play heavy metal, drink beer, smile and have a good time? Let everyone believe in whatever they believe, as long as they don’t hurt anybody. That’s a lot of the things going on in the lyrics."

If you haven't heard some music of the new Tad Morose record then here is the video for "Your own demise" for you to check out.

MONSTER releases fun-packed videoclip

One of the best things a band can do in my eyes is to show their fans how much fun they have on stage. Sure, there are a lot of people out there often being musicians themselves who also take a look on the technical side or how certain parts are played. But the fun-factor is something that can go over to the fans and take them into the show. Hopefully it will animate them to have fun and make them listen to the music so they will take a closer look upon the peformance of a band. That's what happened at least to me several times.

This is exactly what the first ever full featured videoclip captures that the thrash metal band MONSTER has been released! The footage was filmed and cut-together by Jörg Harms at this years edition of the Let the bad times roll festival. (taking place in Lower Saxony, Northern germany every year).

Much heartblood has been put into this one, it's sort of video you only get to see seldom - a lot of emotions from musicians and fans in here. You can even re-feel what happened out there while the band was on stage.

Please support this band by buying their full album "The arrival"  for 5 Euro (plus shipping and handling) as a original pressed CD in a jewelcase. Just contact the band via E-Mail if you'd like to have a copy. You can also have a look upon their Facebook page and follow them there so you won't miss out on what the band will do next.

Acoustic Steel releases video for their version of "The boys of summer"

Can you imagine yourselfs a band doing acoustic coverversions of Metal songs just like "Thunderstruck" (AC/DC) or even "Wasted Years" (Iron Maiden)? This band called "Acoustic Steel" has taken the mentioned songs and re-arranged them to fit with acoustic guitars and Cajons as drums. I've seen them several times live now and it has been some fantastic and impressive performances they provided towards the audience.

A while back the band released their very first EP on Rock Range Records. In the meantime the guys have filmed a first video for one of the songs from that EP called "The boys of summer". The original track was done by Don Henley and this is what Acoustic Steel made of that song:

Don't forget to check out the band's Facebook page and give them a like. If you want to order a copy of the first EP of the band, go to the webshop of Rock Range Records.
The next show the band is going to play will be tomorrow here at Meppen, Germany at the Jam Center  together with two other bands called Against Randy and Kleinstadt-Trio.

Darling Down release cinematic video for "Never Tell"

Music videos have become a important part to all the musicians out there. It looks sort of "common" to put out a video if you have a new release coming or already out.

But it's seldomely coming along that these videos have a quality that could even fit for showing off in a cinema. Such came to my mind when I saw Darling Down's video of "Never Tell". It could be taken out of one of those hard action films where things are set on trial and survival or death is what is the question.

While musically held as a strong symphonic metal band with very intense, female vocals the clip not "only" has a story which is worth following but it also makes use of special effects.

Those were also a big surprise to the band. By the end of the day the drummer of the band Ryan Hudson had to say about doing the movie:

"The best part of the video is all the gore. We filmed it with inspiration from Eli Roth and Quentin Tarantino. I was surprised to learn how the special effects makeup artist made blood splatter. Let’s just say there was a lot of spitting."

(c) by Darling Down, used with kind permission

A Light Within present visual exposure of their music in new video

The Post Rock/ Post Metal/ ShoeGaze band A Light Within has finally found someone who they can team up with to have a decent exposure for their music. They teamed up with AngelLBeloved whose other stuff can also be showcased on their first Youtube channel and also on her second Youtube channel.

The band commented the video on Facebook with the words: "(...) As you watch this video for our album version single "Between Shores", we hope you can relate to some of the same metaphorical ideas that we have.(...)".

I think it wasn't that easy since their music comes with many layers and fine structures that makes them remarkeable. It also requires the listener to give the tracks several spins to take hold of the full stuff that is kept inside each and every track of the band.

The song is part of the new EP of the band called "Body Matter". Stay in touch with the band through Facebook to get to know the exact details on the release date, track list etc.

The band will play two shows in the upcoming time:

Middle of the Map Fest
The Riot Room in Kansas City
19:00 (CDT)
04/25/2015

recordBar in Kansas City
22:00 (CDT)
05/16/2015

Anvil touring USA and release video for Hope in Hell

This video exactly describes why I love Heavy Metal so much. Great riff, rhythm and songstructure along with a message. It reminds me a lot of the old days when I began listening to Metal music.

It has something of the Black Sabbath style with the heavy riffing and midtempo speed in them. Most of all the reverb effect in the refrain is a bit like Rob Halford used to sing in the earlier days of Judas Priest. Very well done song that sticks in my mind ever since I heard it for the first time.

The band is currently on tour in the US, don't miss'em. Here are the remaining dates:

3/17/2015 W Hollywood, CA The Whisky
3/18/2015 Morgan Hill, CA The Granada
3/19/2015 Portland, OR Tonic Lounge
3/20/2015 Seattle, WA Studio Seven

For tour updates and more dates check out the official website of the band.

The band also announced that they already started working on a new album but since they are busy with touring it will take some time until the release of the new longplayer. Until then I can highly recommend to give the current album "Hope in hell" a spin, think you won't regret it.

Southern Front ask the sense of revenge in their new video

Southern Front are a purely thrash-determined band from Austin, Texas. For all of you guys out there loving Testament, Slayer and Pantera this band will be a fest. They've recently released a brand new video for the track "Face down" taken from the new album "Death Throes".

(c) by Southern Front, used with kind permission

The great thing is that the track reminds me a lot of Testament in their phase while they released "Low". It's pure power going straight forward with clear, yet very hard vocals in the style of Pantera. This mixture goes very heavy but the double axe guitar players add a lot with the traditional yet also technical and skilled playing technique reminding me of the old Slayer songs.

A cool feature is that both play left-handed something you don't see very often but it looks great. Another cool thing is that the video tells a story and and leaves one with a surprise behind.
It's in my eyes the question if revenge really makes sense at all in life... But best of all you can check it out for yourselfs:

The band is going to start a new mini-tour cycle in their hometown area in Texas already starting TODAY. Here are the dates:

March 7th. @ Dirty Dog Austin TX.

March 21st. @ Sweetwater Austin TX.

April 17th. @ Fitzgerald's San Antonio TX.

May 22nd. Arcadia Bar & Grill Houston TX.
