On March 28th the well known german power metal band Gamma Ray releases it's brand new album "Empire of the Undead" today. Also the band had to postpone the album due to a fire at the studio they recorded the album and thus loosing a good part of their equipment and some memorabilas it couldn't stop them at all from finishing the record.
For all those who would like to listen to the new CD before buying it the label of the band earMusic has set up a full album stream on youtube. Up till now it has two new songs on it called "Avalon" and "Built a world (European bonus track)

Update 2014/04/04: If you're living in Germany, Switzerland or Austria
you can download one track of the album at the moment for free from
Amazon. They offer the track "Pale Rider" in their free mp3 section. Very cool, since this track is very traditionell in my eyes, remind me a lot of the good old Judas Priest songs. :-)

Mob Rules annouce festival to celebrate 20th band anniversary
Great News for all the fans of MOB RULES, the band will do a very,very special event (their first own festival) to celebrate their 20th anniversary. Just check out the details and flyer below and spread the word on this, the band very-well deserves some support!
The following statement taken from their post on Facebook today:
"Mob Rules will celebrate their 20th anniversary on October, 25th 2014 at Pumpwerk Wilhelmshaven with their own festival, coming with an awesome lineup!
As headliner, Mob Rules were able to confirm the world-famous Power Metal band GAMMA RAY, who just released their new album „Empire Of The Undead“. Mob Rules themselves will play a very special anniversary show with some exciting surprises. The third act are LOVE.MIGHT.KILL and another band will be announced during the next weeks!
Preorder for this festival starts in two weeks! Matthias Mineur states: „Again, we will have a great present for people buying their tickets first: Beneath the regular ones, a limited premium ticket will be available, which comes with an exclusive shirt! As usual: Who comes first, serves first.“

Spring break with Gamma Ray, Iced Earth and Timo Tolkki
Looks like we've reached some sort of turning point - maybe Winter is about to say goodbye for some time. I like that - finally some sun and feeling way better now. So let's see what the metal universe has done in the recent Winter months.
Gamma Ray have announced that they will put out a new EP entitled "Master Of Confusion". Having just released their “Live – Skeletons and Majesties” DVD / Blue Ray the band already comes around with some new stuff for their dedicated fans. It's said to be released on March 15th 2013 featuring a packed CD containing stuff with a length of about 60 minutes. That's value for money in my eyes. The Tracklist for this nice package includes the following songs:
A Side
1. Empire Of The Undead (new studio track)
2. Master Of Confusion (new studio track)
B Side
3. Death Or Glory (Holocaust studio cover version)
4. Lost Angels (Sweet studio cover version)
C Side*
5. The Spirit / 6. Wings Of Destiny / 7. Gamma Ray
8. Farewell / 9. Time To Break Free / 10. Insurrection
*Recorded live in Bochum.
Here's the first teaser for the upcoming release:
The next one's are Iced Earth who have announced a fresh DVD under the name of Live In Ancient Kourion. The band's set was filmed at the ancient Kourion Theater in Limassol, Cyprus, in December 2011. The band points out on their website that "(...) Filming and recording a 2 1⁄2 hour show in an amphitheater that is 6000 years old and is not set-up for a rock concert, paired with 40-degree Celsius heat, were just some of the obstacles to overcome.(...)". Take a look on what's coming up below...
Finally I've come around the news that Timo Tolkki has incinated a new project under the bannner of THE LAND OF NEW HOPE - The new Metal Opera. Featuring some great musicians like Russell Allen (SYMPHONY X), Elize Ryd (AMARANTHE), Rob Rock, Tony Kakko (SONATA ARCTICA), Sharon Den Adel (WITHIN TEMPTATION), Michael Kiske (UNISONIC, HELLOWEEN), Jens Johansson (STRATOVARIUS) and Derek Sherinian (DREAM THEATER, BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION) the introduction of the vocalists has made me very curious on this one. More information regarding the upcoming release is said to be made available by Frontiers Records on Monday, Februry 25. Up to this point take a look on what's been released so far.

Live snippets from Gamma Ray&Bullet 2012
On 7th January 2012 there was a little Metal festival that took place in Berlin, Germany. Two bands that played there were Bullet and Gamma Ray.
The german TV station ZDF offers now for a limited time two live snippets from this event in their view-on-demand archives for free viewing.
