Wacken 2016 livestream coming up feat. full Iron Maiden set

It's this time of the year again! Wacken Open Air will soon start and celebrate three days of Heavy Metal music. For all those who cannot make it there or didn't had the chance to get their hands on one of the tickets that sold out quickly at the blink of the eye I've got good news. :-)

That's how live shows used to be recorded back in the analogue age. Good old VHS tape, I still love it.

Arte Concert has announced to stream a good amount of shows through a internet livestream. Amongst the bands that have been listed to have their shows included on the stream are metal legends Iron Maiden who will perform a extended set which will see them close the touring circuit for the "Book Of Souls World Tour".

But I'm also glad to see that smaller bands will also find the way on the screens of the users. Here's the schedule so far, all times are MEST.

Update 08.08.2016: If you missed out the whole thing don't worry. Most of the shows are currently up in the archive of Arte Concert as video on demand. But don't wait too long since these stuff mostly is only online for a limited time.

Update 04.08.2016: The playing times have slightly changed. Iron Maiden will do a shorter set, the same goes for Therapy? and one more show from 0:15-00:45 has been added. It's still not confirmed which act will be streamed at that time but I think it will be revealed soon. The schedule below has been updated with the latest info.

Charity album for Sophie Lancaster foundation to be released soon

Sadly even as of today alternative subcultures aren't respected by all the people in our society. There is still a lot of prejudice and intolerance circulating in the minds of people about the way they think that these people live, think and feel. Even more worse people openly showing that they belong to such a subculture are often not "only" attacked through words but also by corporal attacks.

One of these cases happened back in 2007 when Sophie Lancaster along with her boyfriend was attacked by a number of males in their mid-teens while walking through Stubbylee Park in Bacup, Rossendale, in Lancashire. Sophie died as a result of the attack.

Her mother founded the S.O.P.H.I.E Lancaster Foundation to raise awareness of the problem. The exact aims of the foundation are:

- To create a lasting legacy to Sophie.
- To provide educational group-works that will challenge the prejudice and
intolerance towards people from alternative subcultures.
 - To campaign to have the UK Hate Crime legislation extended to include people
from alternative subcultures or Lifestyle and Dress.

Coffee Jingle Records have announced that they are releasing a Charity album in aid of The S.O.P.H.I.E Lancaster Foundation, which is being released Friday May 27th, but available to Pre-Order now as a digital copy and a CD and Artwork, with all proceeds going to the charity. This album is a mixture of alternative music. The album is aimed to create awareness and funds to help support the charity to achieve their aims.

Some of the bands participating on the record include:

Digital copies are £7, Double CD Album £10 (Free P and P in the UK) and 8 x 8 limited edition prints are £5 (Free P and P in the UK) all available on Bandcamp on this link.

As a preview to the record you can listen to the track that Arch Enemy have contributed called "You will know my name" right here in the video player.

Now Century Media have uploaded a new label sampler featuring 40 tracks. You'll find big names like Iced Earth, Napalm Death, At the gates or Arch Enemy as well as bands like Night Demon, The Crown or Marduk on it. Just go to this location and hit the download button to get your package.

Warbringer

Happy new year everyone! Hope you all had a good start into the new year.

So there hasn't been any band introduction here on my blog so I think it's a good way to kick into the new year with some thrash. :-)

Actually this genre seems to be on the upswing again. Maybe it's because of the attention that the Big Four shows and Metallica's 30th anniversary shows threw some spotlight upon this style in Heavy Metal music. It's good to see some fresh young bands pick up the trail of the well known bands and try to combine them with a potion and variety of their own style adding new sounds and elements to the traditional sound that they are influenced of. One of them is Warbringer, a band from California, U.S.A. that formed back in 2004. They just recently toured here in germany with Arch Enemy so I hope a lot of people will remember them as support act from these shows. If not, here's a little reminder on how they sound (and look) with their actual video clip.
