Raptore take us on board for a Night On Fire

This is oldschool heavy 'n' speed metal with a cool vibe and catchy chorus in it coming all the way from Argentina. The band takes a journey through the night and I like the way the video is done in a simple self-filming style. The cuts taken of a show at a small club with few light in it add to the 80s feeling this one strongly spreads around. Come and join the band on their way until the dawn breaks.

The whole album “Rage n' Fever” is held in this traditional way but with variations. There is room for Accept and early Scorpions influenced heavy metal, speedy elements of Exciter, vibe of 70s rock n roll, thrashy aggression and of course appeal of NWOBHM. While listening to it it's hard to believe that this one has been created and recorded in these times we're living in and not way back in the 70s or 80s.

The re-issued album contains two bonus tracks and can be heard at the Bandcamp page of their label Witches Brew. It comes with a cover version of Venom’s Witching Hour and Charger’s Desperadoes (a lost but underrated NWOBHM gem).

Make sure to tune in to their Facebook page to stay up to date.

Powerless Rise release redemptive clip of feelings

Sometimes it's hard to let go of bad feelings. Music has often helped me in a redemptive way here. Somehow it free's up the soul of it's bad condition holding us down and preventing us of feeling better.

This clip here of the US female fronted Hard Rock group Powerless Rise helped me to get over such a gap so I thought it would be great to share this moment with all of you out there.

If you like what you hear and would like to have a copy of the song to carry on with you it's surely fine news to know that Powerless Rise has set up a free digital download of the single available from Soundcloud.

The video delivers a very expressive performance. I like the blue tone of the video. It expresses the state of mind with the visuals perfectly. It's all about depicting the tormented spirit and emotional roller coaster associated with heart break and tragedy.

A bandshot of Powerless Rise while doing the video for "Battered Soul", (c) by Powerless Rise, used with kind permission
The track is featured on the band's debut record “Set Sail” which is available on iTunes, Amazon, iHeart Radio, and Google Play among many other online retailers.  The album is also available for purchase as a download or physical CD at the band’s official website www.powerlessrise.com.

The band is already working on a new EP so make sure to connect with the band via Facebook.so you won't miss out on the further band activities.

Pryti uses music and video to express her darker feelings

I've found out that music can speak to me and others much more than other ways of art ever could do. The same thought may have been one of the reasons for Pryti to start writing music. She is a Alternative / Singer Songwriter based in Birmingham / UK.

Her influences range from Sarah Mclachlan to Deftones and I think you can hear that a lot in the video single for the track "Bitter Pill".  Pryti wrote, sang, played the guitars and bass on all of the songs of her debut album ‘Tales of a Melancholic’, and released it on her label Welcome To Pariahville.

In a statement about the track Pryti pointed out: "Bitter Pill is a dark song about struggling and trying to explain how you feel. I love how the video captures that."

As for me this one comes with a special dark, haunting vibe to it. I love the slow way the track moves in the verses just to finally explode in the refrain parts. The voice gives so much of sensibility to the overall tone of the music while the beat keeps it hard and dry but it feels naturally throughout the whole track duration.

Pryti during the video shoot of "Bitter Pill", (c) by Pryti, used with kind permission
You can pick up the song or the whole longplayer from iTunes and all other digital retailers.

Also make sure to stay in connection with Pryti through sites such as Twitter, Youtube or Facebook.

Abraham Sarache looks at relationsships in a sophisticated way

Sometimes real special stuff arrives to my inbox. This particular one is one of these things that picked my attention. I think it's a good thing to have a look on other music than the one you use to listen to or stuff that falls in between the so often mentioned genre borders.

This track of multi-instrumentalist Abraham Sarache mixes up a lot of acoustic guitars along with hard hitting drumming plus deeply emotional vocals all over it. The pretty amazing thing is that besides the heavyness that comes from the pushing and hard hitting drums there's enough space in the sound for the feelings and that the guitars gladly never get lost so there's always a melody going through the whole track.

Check it out for yourselves and mark your Facebook calenders since Abraham Sarache will play a special release show in support of the album "The Gardener" (from which this track has been taken) at Volta in Amsterdam on June 24th. The show will be recorded for a future live release.
You can purchase the track or the whole record now from iTunes and Spotify.

"The Gardener" is an alt/progressive rock concept album with the inclusion of folk instruments like ukulele and Venezuelan cuatro. To express the feelings involved, different kinds of voice registers are provided: from a soft, melodious or whispered voice to raspy voice. Various pads and synthesizers are used to give depth and warmth to the songs where an acoustic guitar with a low tuning predominates. A multicultural composition on the instrumental level and a progressive rhythmic base create an exquisite atmosphere of imbalance and peculiarity.

The philosophy behind the album is based on the fact that in any interpersonal relationship, whether it is a friendship or a romantic connection, there is a duality between the one that participates in an active way (The Gardener) and the one that does it in a passive way (The Flower).

“All of us at some point of our lives have a role of a gardener and in other moments we are flowers,” Sarache commented.

“We can all identify ourselves as the Gardener when we talk about a person we were looking after because we liked him or her, we wanted to know more about this person or we just wanted to spend more time with them, no matter what. We simply did everything possible to make things work.

The cover of Abraham Sarache's album "The Gardener", (c) by Abraham Sarache, used with kind permission

“On the other hand, we have been also in situations when someone was interested in us in a special way, but the feeling was not mutual. We still wanted to maintain a relationship because we liked other aspects of that person's character. To this behavior I refer to as the Flower,” he continues.

“The Crush: Eyes of Fire” which opens The Gardener was awarded as the Best Alternative Rock Song by The Akademia Music Awards in May 2015. Sarache released a video single for the song, and he commented: “This is a very special video for me. My first video as a solo artist showing parts of my everyday in Madrid and Margarita Island where concept album The Gardener was conceived and recorded.”

For the upcoming show at Volta in Amsterdam on June 24th, Abraham Sarache will be joined by Dutch alternative/progressive rockers Amikdla. Visit Abraham Sarache's official website here.

A.D.D. speak about regret and release fresh US tourdates for 2016

Some words from the editor: speaking of my own life it's the chances that I didn't took that I regret the most. It's strange as it is but with most of the things I have done I feel somehow comfortable. It's mostly those moments when I didn't took an opportunity that I think about again later with regret. In the end know one know's what could have been...

Regret is also a topic that the band Analog Digital Disorder is speaking about in their current single "I regret" which is taken of the album "CORE". The album was mixed by Tadpole (Disturbed, 3 Doors Down, Staind) and mastered by Grammy Award winner Trevor Sadler.

Besides the direct heavy rocking attitude that goes straight on forward with crushing guitars and kicking drums I like the performance of vocalist Matilda Moon who rips up the topic right on the point. The variations in her voice bring in a lot of emotions and are placed at the fitting parts of the track.

The band is going to hit the road very soon in the US, here is the flyer with the show dates. In addition to those two more dates have been scheduled:

Update 2016-04-11: More dates have been confirmed so I've added to them below to the list:

Fri. Apr. 29th - Ribco - Rock Island, IL
Fri. June 10th - w/ Bret Michaels - Q&Z Expo - Ringle, WI
Fri. June 17th - w/ E&E - BAMfest - McHenry Extreme Sports Park - McHenry, IL
Tue. Oct. 4th - w/DOPE, AHC - Concord Music Hall - Chicago, IL

If you want to get in touch with the band don't hesitate to see their website or check in to their Facebook page.

Voyager to tour Australia & Europe spring 2016 alongside Epica/Leprous

Progmetal has been on my mind for a long time in recent days. But as always things change so these days I'm back with the thrash metal direction but sometimes a prog band crosses my path that let's me think back to those prog days.

Such a thing happened when I heard about Voyager and saw their clip of "Hypenventilating". It's this mixture of power with emotions and melody that turns my attention towards them.

I call these elements of the sound "dreaming elements". They're often missing in today's prog metal sound where the focus is more set on heavyness. It's these dream elements I would like to see coming back in and Voyager happily still has them.

As ever so often when I discover such bands there's the wish to witness a live performance of them. Well, this could become a reality since Voyager has been confirmed to open up for Epica and Leprous in spring 2016 in Australia as well as in Europe.

Here is a round up of the dates, make sure to reserve your tickets early. I'm pretty sure those Epica shows will go quickly as the band was able to gain a lot of new fans in the last months. Maybe also a nice idea for a christmas gift. ;-)

The European 2016 dates with Leprous are as follows:

31/03: TBA
01/04: 's Hertogenbosch, (NL), W2 www.w2.nl
02/04: Helmond, (NL), Cacaofabriek www.cacaofabriek.nl
03/04: Hoofddorp, (NL), Podium Duycker www.duycker.nl
05/04: TBA

Senate of Prevail look back on the past time with new video

Memories can be sweet gifts. Sure they also can be bad and often we tend to look upon the bad those. It's so easy to forget the good things that happened in a world that is filled with problems.

Anyway, the swedish band Senate of Prevail currently is on hold after having powered all around for nearly a full year with recordings and live performances. They gathered some fans during that process including me and I've posted many of their stuff here on my blog. Just click this link to get a fast overview on those posts. I miss those days...

Happily the guitarist Peter Jonsson recently looked through the band's video archives and compiled a clip showing some nice scenes of the band's history. He also mixed a older track of Senate Of Prevail called "October Sky" and put both things together. The video shows material that has never before seen in any of the band's videos that came out during the last months.

It's well worth checking out. It's the music but also the memories that got me so quickly. My favoite scene is Anton Forsman playing the drum kit at the start of the video and looking like the "Wasn't I supposed to do this?" look at the end and then Pecka Wexell (the drummer of the band) comes rushing in with the forklift as some sort of reaction. :-)

Enjoy these sweet memories and keep an eye on the band's Facebook page. Who know's maybe one day they'll be back? I'm keeping my fingers crossed for that!

Strangelet hitting the road 2015

In the very first days of 2015 I discovered a young band called "Strangelet". I remember it was a very cold day I heard and saw the video for "Privilege of Power" on the screen and was immediately blown away. This brandnew band provided this feeling of a typical hungry underground band that is going straight to the heart with it's direct and raw power.

What me amazed even more was the fact that the band produced the whole album "First Bite" on their own (except for the mastering) and that the sound comes in crashing as a full blown, professionell production. I think that's besides all the other stuff that bands have to fight with something not too many acts come around with. But you can easily check out the quality of the band for yourselves in the video below.

In the time since those days the band was able to do a couple of shows and will do some more in 2015. You can see them on the following dates here in southern germany.

(c) by Strangelet, used with kind permission

If you would like to buy a copy of their album "First Bite" for 10 Euro you can contact them at their website or Facebook page. After all I know: I'm tainted forever. ;-)

Update 2015/09/18: The band currently is taking part in a online voting for a slot on this years  METAL HAMMER PARADISE Festival (13.11.2015) featuring acts like "Helloween", "J.B.O.", "Black Label Society", "Destruction", "At The Gates", "Rage" and "Sepultura". Please take a minute and support them by voting for Strangelet. Your vote could really help to push the band further on their way. Thanks!

A Light Within reveal cover and tracklist for upcoming EP 'Body Matter'

After being in the makings for some time A Light Within have finally announced the title and tracklist for the follow-up EP to the 2013 release "Preface".

The new record is entitled "Body Matter" and will see the digital release on July 7th, 2015 through Static Tension Recordings. It will feature six brand-new tracks from the Shoegaze/Post-Metal formation. Check out the full tracklist below:

1. Torn Page #21
2. Page #22 _No Charge
3. Page #51 _Between Shores
4. Page #29 _World Through the Window
5. Page #13 _To Have; To Hold
6. Page #47-48 _Glaso

The label along with the band gave a little insight on the new output with the following describtion on the labels website:

"(...) Step into the gloom, feel its warm embrace. Close your eyes and let the ambience wash over you, the music unfolding into a wave of shoegazing post-metal. Distant, pained clean vocals appear in the haze, drawing the words from pages in a diary and turning them into a catharsis. The guitars flip from fragile melodies to thundering riffs at a moment’s notice, and the bass accentuates the deeper recesses of this stellar - in every way - sound. You are experiencing A Light Within, who have an upcoming EP entitled 'Body Matter.'

"Whether in the mournful dirge of 'World Through The Window' or the swell that engulfs the latter half of lead single 'Between Shores,' this Kansas City-based group embody the notion of emotionally charged music. Drawing comparisons to bands like Junius or Deftones,  they nevertheless carve out a niche that is wholly their own within ambient post-metal.(...)"

They also showed of the cover of "Body Matter" which is totally beautiful and shines like a diamond in my eyes:

The band is going to do a couple of shows in the upcoming months, the next chance to see them live is already today. Here are the dates:

Apr 25 The Riot Room Kansas City, MO
May 08 Jackpot Music Hall Lawrence, KS
May 16 recordBar Kansas City, MO
Jun 19 The Riot Room Kansas City, MO

For more details about the band make sure to see the band's Facebook page.

If you still did not have the chance to listen to the first single of "Body Matter" I'll include the video for "Between Shores" right here. Besides the fine video with a outstanding visual exposure it features the full album version of the song.

Chasing Dragons looking for new bass guitar player

Leeds-based classic Heavy Metal formation Chasing Dragons have recently announced that their bass guitar player Ant will leave the band. At the same time the band has set up a search for a new bass guitar player.

Here is what the band wrote on Facebook:

"(...) As with all great journeys, sometimes there are unexpected forks in the road... We are very sad to announce that Ant will be leaving our band...(...)

(...) As such we are seeking a bassist and a brother/sister in arms. We're looking for someone who wants to be a musician for life, who is a bassist who not only plays but writes music, who can sing backing vocals, is local to Leeds and has 110% commitment to our band.

They must be able to learn quickly as we need someone who can keep up on the road, be able to fund their share of any band expenses (sadly bands are expensive!), tour extensively (UK & Europe) and commit to at least one rehearsal per week in Leeds.

Think you've got what we're looking for? Please email bookings@chasingdragons.co.uk

Serious applicants only please! If you don't tick the boxes, please don't apply as we need someone who wants this with all their heart. You must also be aged 18+ as a lot of our shows have age restrictions.(...)"

If you haven't heard and/or seen the band in action before I've put the current video for the single "Broken Jaws" up here for viewing. I also reviewed their EP "Checkmate" some time ago, so check it out if you want to know more about the musical style of the band.

CD Review: Light Among Shadows - Welcome...Back!

Note:  If you have a own band or project that you think might fit in well here for a review or as a presentation / introduction please drop me a line or two in a E-Mail. Please see my profile for my E-Mail adress. I appreciate new suggestions very much so don't hesitate to contact me. I'm also interested in band news / updates / tourdates so keep the stuff coming. Thanks!

If you're having troubles writing in English please send me a E-Mail in your preferred language or use the free Google Translator to transfer your message to English. I also use that tool, it's of course not perfect but I think it will mostly likely work out for our purposes.

Short Introduction

Light Among Shadows are a female fronted symphonic metal band from the south of Spain. In the past years the band released two full length albums entitled "At the Gates of Dawn" in 2011 and only one year later "Welcome...Back!" and toured with both records in the meantime. The style of the band is inspired by fairy tales and horror stories.

At the moment the band is working on the third record with María Barragán on vocals.
This review talks about the second release of the band named "Welcome...back!" with Tatjana Klee, the female voice of the band performing the vocal tracks on the songs of the first two albums.

Summary / Player / Purchase-Link

I like albums like these very much. While they are very smphonic and detailed bands like Light Among Shadows keep the heavyness straight in which means that the power doesn't get lost in all the details and sometimes epicness of the tracks.

What we have here is a very riff-oriented album with very outworked vocals on all tracks. You can hear and feel that a lot of time has been spent making the tracks sound perfect. The drums are pushing hard forward with gives the album the extra power. Luckily enough it's not only a album full of smashing tracks but also has a lot of softer moments to offer and never misses out the melody to keep the tracks heart-touching. All in all the album comes with much diversity and often changing parts that can be found in each song.

Please check out this album and if you like go and buy this record to support bands like this one and to have a diamond in your collection that will shine on through moments in life when there's darkness around you. It's well worth it.

The album can be purchased in digital format in stores like Amazon or itunes. Also make sure to have a listen to it first in the Spotify player below. The video for the title track is also one everyone should have a look at. It tells the story of the album compressed in one video so it's a short film which is highly recommended by me and can be seen below in the track by track section.

Track-by-Track review

Welcome...Back!
Very heavy and compact start of the album, much riff-along to the double-bass attack. The refrain comes straight from the heart. A perfect kick in for the album.

Children of the Underworld
Riff-oriented midtempo rocker. The refrain pushes up the speed and makes one want to sing along. Think this could turn out very well on a live show.

When you close your eyes
A balladesque intro followed up by a riff storm intermezzo start this one. A softer bridge leads over to a riff-hacking stomping track. The beautifull vocals are giving it a warm touch. This track is very diverse and shows a wide range of emotions in it. Music speaks out so much more than words could ever do...

Homecoming
A spoken, soft dreaming intermezzo giving the listener a moment to take a break. I like it when a album has parts like this that give you a little pause before the journey goes on.

Of wonder and horror
It's a strong, riff pounding track with stretched vocals and a slightly progressive touch in it. This track needs some time to sink in, so a re-listen is recommended to get the full point in this one.

Through the maze of thorns
A song with a powerfull, hard intro going over to a softer first verse and a pushing refrain. This piece of music has many changes between soft and hard parts in them while the vocals come in majestic and also some spoken verses are inside which surprises the listener. Great solos here. A long and very intensive track.

(c) by Light Among Shadows, used with kind permission

Lost in a sea of nightmares
A powerfull start followed by softer but a bit reverbed vocal parts. It goes over back to the intro rhythm then. This song plays a lot with diversity in the vocals which seem to fit to the theme of the lyrics so it fits very well here.

Mirage
Some time for relaxing again. A soft spoken bridge leading over to the next song.

Dreamshaping
The intro starts soft and the guitars play around with the songs theme. A rougher refrain while the rest comes with a slightly balladesque feeling to it. The end has a effect sort of a redemption feeling to the writer of these lines. A warmly welcomed feeling.

The world behind the mask
The push-in goes fast with a soft going-over while the refrain presents in a slow and stomping way. The feeling overall in this track is somewhat ghostly with many fast changing parts in them. The end comes as a overburning experience which gives more redemption feeling while the end is soft and slowly fading away leaving one behind with many thoughts...

A tarnished mirror
Time for another break! Another soft intermission with dreaming notes in them. The drums are kept very hard and cold on "A tarnished mirror".

Back to where you've never been
We start with a compact riff before vocals and drums are the only things that can be heard. The riffs are set very hard here and the track is catchy. The refrain is outworked a lot with many layers of vocals all around. You'll surely remember this one once heard.

Alone
A soft start and the song moving forwards slowly. The changes between soft and hard parts are arranged epicly with a outstanding solo in here. The vocals are also set in a epic direction while the tonality overall is set on heavyness with a focus on working out the details a lot.

Anvil touring USA and release video for Hope in Hell

This video exactly describes why I love Heavy Metal so much. Great riff, rhythm and songstructure along with a message. It reminds me a lot of the old days when I began listening to Metal music.

It has something of the Black Sabbath style with the heavy riffing and midtempo speed in them. Most of all the reverb effect in the refrain is a bit like Rob Halford used to sing in the earlier days of Judas Priest. Very well done song that sticks in my mind ever since I heard it for the first time.

The band is currently on tour in the US, don't miss'em. Here are the remaining dates:

3/17/2015 W Hollywood, CA The Whisky
3/18/2015 Morgan Hill, CA The Granada
3/19/2015 Portland, OR Tonic Lounge
3/20/2015 Seattle, WA Studio Seven

For tour updates and more dates check out the official website of the band.

The band also announced that they already started working on a new album but since they are busy with touring it will take some time until the release of the new longplayer. Until then I can highly recommend to give the current album "Hope in hell" a spin, think you won't regret it.

CD Review: AlogiA - Elegia Balcanica

Note: If you have a own band or project that you think might fit in well here for a review or as a presentation / introduction please drop me a line or two in a E-Mail. Please see my profile for my E-Mail adress. I appreciate new suggestions very much so don't hesitate to contact me. Short introduction

The band AlogiA was already formed back in 2000. The band has their origins in Serbia and the album I'm reviewing here, their newest effort "Elegia Balcanica" comes with lyrics in serbian language. The style of the band can be described as Progressive Power Metal.

(c) by AlogiA, used with kind permission

Alogia have played many tours all over Balkan during the last decade and also performed on many huge festivals, such as Exit, Beer fest. They also had a couple of very succesful huge solo concerts in Belgrade, SKC hall.

In addition to that they also opened for Whitesnake, Apocalyptica and Savatage. After 3 studio and one live album/dvd, the guys have released the fouth studio album “Elegia Balcanica” in September 2014 in Serbia only. A worldwide release has been scheduled for January 2015 on Miner Recordings.

You can connect with the band through their social sites such as Facebook or Twitter. The website of the band has more informations on all of the band's releases.

Summary / Player

This album blows away all your sorrows and bad feelings within a few songs! That's what came up to my mind when I heard the record. The great thing is that the band for sure has a lot of technical abilities but uses them in a very minimal way. It's no question a release from the section of Progressive music but without the often lengthy sections other bands often come around with. The song and the sheer power of the music stands in the very first row and is what matters most. It's not a show of solos but a lot of technical tricky parts can be heard. Anyway. they fit very well into the organic structure of the songs so I've never had the feeling that these elements were overused. If you prefer power and fun over technical stuff this album is for you. The production is very fat with a focus on the drums and the vocals giving it a very powerfull punch.

The album is not available as complete stream for listening so I've included the official videos the band has shot for three of the albums songs at the Track by Track section. They should give you a good idea of what the music of the guys is all about.

Track-by-Track Review

1) Almagest
The instrumental opens up the CD. It perfectly shows was the listener awaits in the upcoming 30 minutes: powerfull, fast but also versatile progressive metal without too much ado. A bridge with some soft notes played in keeps in mind before a much more pushing and strong part leads towards the end. The pushing guitar riff leads directly over to the next track.

2) Callis ad Astra

The riffs keep pushing hard forwards. The voice comes in very melodic. Warm, high pitched vocals but they never get on one's nerves. The second verse comes with more darker toned vocals. A refrain that keeps in mind for sure. One can imagine this one going down very well on live shows. Think it will make a lot of people's ears opening up for the band.

3) Galija
The gas pedal is kept strong and the speed is set high. The vocals have a fast and short tone, the refrain pushes the excitement level even a bit more. Fine melodies put in a fast rhythm package.

4) Vreme je

Yeah, let's keep things straight forward this one seems to speak out. The guitars are kept shorter on this one than on the previous tracks while the keyboards form the main-theme melody. Lot's of power drumming also in here. The drummer needs to have a strong condition in this band, no doubt.

5) Elegia Balcanica

The title track opens up with a more midtempo-oriented section. The keyboards also dominate this song. A song with a more hymn like theme, while the vocals telling a more dramatic tale. Some very high screams give this a classic Metal attitude. It's surely a surprise track most listeners won't await having heard the other fours songs.

6) Ona zna (Lilith)
Again a more midtempo piece of music, also slow doublebass drums play a certain part in Ona zna. A typical riff-along-song. Nothing special but keeps you going on with the album.

7) Inferno
Back to the more brutal style track number seven screams with the extremly fast double bass drums intro. The first verse surprises with midtemo rhythm. A very versatile track The solo section has some fine elements in them, technic freaks shouldn't miss them. Guess some will try to replay these parts. :-) Surely hard to get by. Cool vocals, with a nice melody and structure, quite a good idea for such a song.

8) U tišini
A hard and dirty riff opens song number eight. A midtempo-stomping track that goes into a unusual direction but is very welcomed. It brings up a bit rougher note that adds some variation to the album. I think it will stick in the minds of many listeners for the hacking rhythm.

9) Intentionally blind (bonus)
A bonus track paying tribute to Chuck Schuldiner and the legacy he formed mostly with his main band Death. Featuring Seven Kingdom on vocals this bonustrack goes into a very straight and brutal direction (small wonder when you think about the Death Metal origin of the track) also some melody still remains in this track. A nice kick-them-out for the album and a unexspected, too.

Liquid Horizon

I remember having run across this band by pure chance - I surfed around on youtube and after I watched a video by Vanden Plas youtube offered me a video by Liquid Horizon and since the starting picture of the video did look fine I gave it a click. Well, I wasn't disappointed with my choice since it got me fastly, it's this part of something beeing so very special and unique in their sound that made me notice down the band's name quickly so I won't get lost in the dust of times.

By now I've checked their site and found out through the media tab on the site that they do follow the modern progressive way of Heavy Metal in the style of Vanden Plas and the like. Anyway, their vocalist Oliver Kilthau and the performance of drummer Chuck West do have found their very own style which gives the band a unique touch which makes it a band to be remembered . So if you like progmetal in the modern style take some minutes and check out the video of "Daily Dose".

You can also follow them on facebook to keep up with all the latest news about the band.

Heathen

Today is a special day - the 29th of February only comes every four years. To celebrate this special properly I've decided to pick a band that surely deserves much more attention. I'd like to introduce you today to "Heathen", a trash metal band from the beginnings of the 80th's. Looking at their member list it seems that they had a lot of good people in their line-up but they never seem to have recognized besides the Big Four (Metallica,Slayer,Megadeth,Anthrax).

They band did split up back in 1992 but came together in 2001. By now they've released a new album in 2010 called "The evolution of chaos" and it's a superior album. I heard it first yesterday evening and are still doing so while typing this lines. The fascination hopefully can be read in these lines.

The full album "Evolution of chaos" can be heard for free on the bands myspace site.

As a little tip on which song to hear first here's "No stone unturned" which is one of my favorites of the album.

No Stone Unturned

They even have made a video for one of the songs of the album but I can't watch it here in germany. Anyway, here's the video in case you've more luck than me.

Warbringer

Happy new year everyone! Hope you all had a good start into the new year.

So there hasn't been any band introduction here on my blog so I think it's a good way to kick into the new year with some thrash. :-)

Actually this genre seems to be on the upswing again. Maybe it's because of the attention that the Big Four shows and Metallica's 30th anniversary shows threw some spotlight upon this style in Heavy Metal music. It's good to see some fresh young bands pick up the trail of the well known bands and try to combine them with a potion and variety of their own style adding new sounds and elements to the traditional sound that they are influenced of. One of them is Warbringer, a band from California, U.S.A. that formed back in 2004. They just recently toured here in germany with Arch Enemy so I hope a lot of people will remember them as support act from these shows. If not, here's a little reminder on how they sound (and look) with their actual video clip.

Mob Rules

It's weekend and I wanna take the chance to quickly let you know
about Mob Rules, a small band from Northern germany.

The main feature in their sound is the ability to put in some
atmosphere into the songs. It's mostly power metal they do for
sure, but it's intense and still there is always a room for
feelings and emotions. They work out the songs detailed and
besides that they are very sympathic human beings (meet them
every here and there on some of the shows they did.

You can find some songs on their myspace site at:

So why not check out Astral Hand from the actual CD "Radical peace"?
