A metal concert in a church?

Yeah, what do you think about this idea? Does it work out or should both sides not team up?
A band called "Solution Cycle" played their first ever gig last week in a church in Lower saxony / Northern germany in a small town called Nortrup-Loxten (that's near Osnabrück).

A TV megazine that reports about all the daily news happening in this region called NDR made a short news about it and I saw it on TV last friday. I thought it would be nice to let you guys out there know about it. You can get a impression of the event on the website of the TV station, there are pictures and some interview footage (sadly only in german language) available.

It's a nice bonus that the TV station has set up not only the mentioned site with a report in german and pictures but also uploaded the full show as a video for streaming. It's the full concert with a length of around 90 minutes. The stream will be up for a very limited time so better hurry if you want to check it out. If you don't want to watch the full concert but quickly check out how the band sounds then pick up this short video snippet of around a minute. A gives a short insight into the song "Fire of Life".

The pastor of the church Uwe Brand wanted to send a message out there that the church should be open to these people as well. The concert was a big success, the band played to a packed house, a audience of around 400 people of nearly all ages showed up. The pastor himself was also involved into the concert as he spoke some lines of prayers that were embed into some of the songs.

In 2013 the same pastor already made another experiment. He invited a gothic band at the holy place and that did also work out fine with many people, mostly non-gothics showing up. For 2015 the pastor hopes to be able to do another experiment that opens the church up so more people may come to the church again and have a different experience. You can follow the further band activities by clicking the like-button on their Facebook page.

Wacken 2014 and beyond - streams online and boxset coming

Life can only be understood in reverse. But must be lived forwards… This quote from the Megadeth song "Losing my senses" is a good statement in my eyes. We should focus on the here and now rather than on the past.

Anyway, sometimes you may also like to look back as some memories can also be pretty sweet. This often comes into play when thinking about visiting a festival like the Wacken Open Air.

The german TV station zdf kultur has re-uploaded some of the broadcasts of the past Wacken Open Air from 2014. So here's one more chance to see this stuff if you haven't already.

Kreator

Schandmaul

Amon Amarth

Hammerfall

In addition to that a mediabook package with 3 DVDs / Blu-rays is coming our way which will reflect upon the Wacken Open Airs of all the past years called „25 Years of Wacken – Snapshots, Scraps, Thoughts And Sounds“ .

The german Rock Hard megazine has been given the honour to exclusively present a first insight into the book on their website showing stuff from the years 1990 - 1994. Unfortunately it's in german but the pictures inside should be of interest to many people.

For more infos from the boxset and some snippets from the DVDs watch the trailer below.

Check out their massive Video archive to see a list of the bands and have a look at some of the material, they stream all of the offered stuff for free!

On 31st of October 2014 the shows of In Flames, While she sleeps, Wovenwar and Papa Roach were recorded by the Rockpalast team at the Palladium in Cologne, Germany. At the moment you can already take a look at some of the stuff at the Rockpalast homepage (interviews with bandmembers as well as single songs of the show).

In the night from 23. November to 24. November 2014 the full concert will be aired at the german TV station WDR starting at midnight. There's also a webstream of the TV station available but I can't tell if the show will be available there as well or if they have a regionlock activated. Anyway, just try your luck I think it will be worth checking out. Maybe they'll also add the show to their archive later.
