Steel Panther release dating app and sexy new video

How can I find someone with similar interests? Wouldn't it be even better to find someone who you can share your interest in a certain band with?

Steel Panther have made this dream come true.

Get ready to pitch.

The app " Rock N’ Talk" works like any other popular dating app, but this one is based around subscribers that share a mutual love of the band.

People can sign up and connect with other individuals in their cities and make plans to meet up at shows and develop friendships all thanks to their common interest in the band comprised of Michael Starr, Satchel, Stix Zadinia, and Spyder.

The app will also look to expand to integrate other artists in the future. The app and sign-up will be free and is available for all smartphones now. Fans that want to sign up for Rock N’ Talk can go here to download the app.

In other news the band put out a brand new video for "“Friends With Benefits". It is a song that lyrically explores a mutually beneficial relationship between two consenting adults.

The music video, directed by longtime collaborator J.T. Arbogast–is Steel Panther’s take on the immensely popular show Shark Tank. The band appears in Panther Denas they try and pitch a series of creative ideas to four high-powered cougars.

Products such as the GloriousHole, The Coolcumber, and Slikknutz all sound like meaningful creations until Michael Starr arrives selling himself and his companionship package. The band performs in front of the panel of female business leaders and by the time the song is over–there are more than just their wallets out.

Since the video comes with a age restriction you need to jump to YouTube directly and sign in. That's why a embed doesn't make sense this time - sorry for that.

Track your music on online radio stations with MI on Air

Has my band and the songs we released been aired on online radio stations? Since there are many streams out there playing music it is not impossible at all that this happens - maybe more often than you might think. It's a exciting question for all the band's out there.

It began with the tape. These days most people prefer to stream their music.
But how to find out about it? No one can listen to all the stations all the time. Happily there's a service out there that opened up some time ago. It's focussed on metal bands, free and let's you find out how many times your track(s) have been in rotation, which station aired it and how many people listened. It's called mionair (am I on air?) and can be accessed through https://mionair.com/

All you need to do is to register (goes very fast and it's free). Once that is done you can add your band to the band list. That's also done quickly. Just enter your band's name at the "Add Band" form and you're done!

You can add further details like website URL and social media links but that's not necessary. Once everything's set up the tracking starts - login after some days to see if you've been aired.

Having tried this myselves I was impressed how fast and easy this works. You can also see statistics for other bands and radio stations on the website. I hope this tool will find many users - it deserves support for sure. Just try it out.

Metal Singles & Dating Community Bound By Metal opens it's doors

Do you often feel lonely and left behind on your own with all the stuff life provides? A new love is like a new life they say. Sure it's not sunshine all the way when you have someone by your side (I spoke about the darker sides in the previous post) but going all alone in solo mode surely can also negative effects with it. We all need a bit of uplifting at times I think.

But where to find your significant other? The internet has become a big place to look and find. The Metalmusic plattform Bound By Metal shows a heart for singles and has opened up a free and open Single and Dating platform to show yourselves and your likes in metal music.

A look at the Bound By Metal website

It has been proven that new partners often speak about music in the first time while they
get to know each other. So this could be your chance! Visit www.boundbymetal.com to sign up and start getting to know other Metal maniacs. Over 1000 people have already joined the community.

The use of this service is free of charge and will remain this way. In addition to that
you'll take part in a raffle automatically with joining the site. The prices are given away
in waves each time a new total number of members is reached. So make sure to notify others of this great new opportunity to find your loved one's and unlock the next raffle stage quicker together.

P.S. The Bound by Metal portal also supports nearly all the Metal bands out there and introduces them with full discography and videos. One more reason to join forces with them.

Iranian metal musicians from Confess imprisoned - lawyer or goverment help wanted

We often forget how much freedom of spreech is worth. Please help and spread the word about the band members of the thrash band Confess. Maybe we can help them to get a specialist lawyer or someone else in goverment position who can make his influence count to get them out.

What happend? Nikan Siyanor Khosravi and Khosravi Arash Chemical Ilkhani are members of the thrash metal band Confess. Both men were arrested by the Army of the Guardians of the Islamic Revolution and are facing now charges of blasphemy, advertising against the system, running an illegal and underground band and record label promoting music considered to be Satanic, writing anti-religious lyrics and granting interviews to forbidden foreign radio stations. Both band members, aged 23 and 21 have been imprisoned since last November until finally making bail on February 5th, paying the equivalent of  $30,000 US.

The penality they could face is a minimum of six months to six years in prison, and worse, if they are found guilty of the blasphemy charge, they could be executed,

In a public statement a friend of the musicians reported that all online accounts of the bands have been taken over by the government.

I'm posting this to help spread the word and as said to find people out there that could really help in the case. Other sites such as Metal Injection have set up articles, too. I've decided to grab the image below from Metal Injection for a faster spreading of the word.
If you can also spread the image and/or this article on your sites / networks or drop by on Twitter with the hashtag #FreeConfess that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your help!!!

Update 2016/02/12: A online petition on change.org has been started. It is adressed to the President of Iran Hassan Rouhani with the aim to free the band from jail. I hope signing it can help further to create some positive influence in the matter.

Help to free Confess, please spread the image as often as possible.

If you don't know the band yet, here is a song for streaming.

Live-Review: A Place To Fall / FiftyFour Planets / Acoustic Steel - Lingen 19.9.2015

So this past weekend hopefully will stay some time in my mind. It was time for the local town party. The whole city of Lingen is changed into a big open air location at the end of each summer offering a wide variation of music to check out for free for everybody.

This big wheel gave the chance to take a impressive look from ca. 35 meters above over Lingen

As part of this event you can find one place that offers a special section that keeps it mostly a bit heavier for the younger people of the city. It's called "Rock am Pferdemarkt" and it had a good line-up this 2015 edition offering three of my favorite local bands on Saturday. A note: there were more bands playing but I will ignore those here since they don't fit to the musical style of my blog so I will stick to the heavy bands of the line-up

First out were "A Place To Fall" which offer a mixture of Hardcore / Heavy Metal along with a fine mixture of melodic riffs and melodies. I arrived early to the show so I was able to see the band doing the soundcheck. The band was going to lay it down heavy that was made for sure. They had brought along a good package of speakers so they were really playing loud. Plus they had prepared the stage with some whistle blowers which they used every here and there at the show. Finally the band took the stage and got into the set very well. Most of all vocalist Sebastian Molleker gave a good signature of his abilities. It payed off that he doesn't had to play the bass guitar anymore and could concentrate of the vocals. On one song he screamed the parts as if he was collecting them up from deep inside and was letting off some real pressure. That was towards the end of the set and I feel that he was getting better with every minute that allowed him to get out of himself a bit more.

Malte Hornung, the lead guitarist showed some cool riffs and it was a good mixture of heavyness with fine melodies put inside that made me curious on the upcoming release that the band is currently working on. Make sure to check out the track below so you won't miss out them. If the band had been given a stage time in the later evening time I'm sure the band would have had the chance to gather a lot of new fans. At this time it was too early for most of the people to show up. Keep in mind that the show already started at 18:50 h so I thing you can imagine it. I for one was very happy that I didn't missed them out. I would have really regret if I had chosen to stay at home.

Afterwards it was time for the change over which turned out pretty short. The crew and bands really kept things short and quick but nevertheless made sure the sound was kept in good quality. Next to go were "FiftyFour Planets". Having seen them twice before I was curious what the band was going to do with the big stage since they previous shows were at a small live club here in Lingen called "Alter Schlachthof". The band used the place really well, most of all the Synthesizer Christoph jusmped around a lot as he seems to enjoy a lot. :-) The band has a own idea of sound mixing up classic Punk Rock elements with Synthesizer sounds and a good potion of Hardcore heavy elements. So on some parts they really keep it straight forward to the direct classic punk attitude just to go over without further ado to the hardcore parts that make a pushing, raw sound while the synths give some fine melodies to your ears you won't forget so fast anymore.

It's these versatile mix of sounds that keeps in your ears and makes the music thrilling and you can never know what's comes next. The drum patterns are sometimes kept unusual giving it a even more own character. You should definitely check out their noise in the tube player below. The only thing I still cannot feel fine with is the reaction of the audience. Why not give some applause to the band, why not show some enthusiasm? The band really layed it down heavy so there was absolutely no reason to hang around calmly and not giving the slightest form of reward to the band. The vocalist was right as he counted the applauding people and pointed at them (I was one of them :-) and thanked them for their reaction.

Last to go on my list were "Acoustic Steel". As their name already let's you guess they are drawn towards the heavier side of music but in a acoustic form. That said you may expect the usual tracks to be heard, mostly slow stuff and ballads. Sure the band has them in their set but most of all they also pick up tracks from the really heavy depths of metal like Slayers all-time classic "Seasons in the abyss" that you wouldn't even think of to be remade in a acoustic version. But this band manages to do so in a serious way, so all of the typical elements of the original tracks are kept intact, it's just that they rework them to fit to their attempt to the music. It's even cooler that the drummer uses Cajons and percussion to play his parts and that fit's also to the picture. Their set was filled with a lot of classics amongst them some Iron Maiden numbers like "Run to the hills" and "Fear of the dark" but they also weren't afraid to pick up Body Counts "Copkiller" for a acoustic version. The audience reacted quite well and showed some cool sing-along with dancing and giving a lot of applause to the band which was well deserved.

The peak of the show in my ears was their cover of AC/DC's "Thunderstruck" which I never had thought the people to go along so much on it. I guess the australian rocker may even have liked to see this performace for themselves. Anyway here I've got their current videoclip for you to check out. Besides going serious on the music the band also put's out some fun stuff making sure they never take things too serious so it's also good for having a smile on this very monday. The only thing I would wish for is the band to write own songs and play them. I love their covers but it would also be cool to see them performing their own numbers. But I've hope that this will happen since they aren't around for too long yet.

All in all it was a cool evening and I enjoyed every minute of it. Please keep the good work up all you people at the team of the "Rock am Pferdemarkt" as well as all of the bands showing up there. Hope to see you all around again!

Periphery giving free home recording lessons

So many band are recording and producing their material themselves these days. Digital recording and mixing/cutting equipment has become affordable for many bands and the chance to work on the songs as long as you like and/or need is surely a big pro for going this way.

But how are the several steps done properly? There are many decisions to be made and stuff to be set up before a good sound comes along. The  progressive rock/metal band Periphery has teamed up with CreativeLive Music & Audio and decided to give a free online recording workshop which will be hosted by bassist/producer Adam "Nolly" Getgood and drummer Matt Halpern.

The exact date for this event is August 26th and 27th from 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. PDT / 1:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. EDT. You can also see the exact time for your timezone when clicking on the proper gadget on the stream website. You will be able to see how drums are tracked in a live session, other lessons will cover areas such as tuning, microphone selection and positioning and how to work around common problems while recording music.

Finally the result will be given a complete mix with a session of the "Juggernaut" album recordings from Periphery along with the drums recorded in the workshop.

Finally make sure to click over to the Studio Pass session and to enlist to this fine way to learn more about homerecording for free.

If you haven't heard something of the band yet check the short video snippet below to hear how the band sounds like.
