Last year I wrote about the Metal band Solution Cycle that played a show at a church in Nortrup (Germany). It was sort of a experiment. The local priest wanted to know if it is possible to mend elements of Heavy Metal music with the message and the content of a workship service.
This year will see the second installment of this event on 6. November 2015 at the Dorotheenkirche (located near Osnabrueck). Following the success of the last year the same band will contribute music again. But there will be a difference. This years edition will focus on a special topic - it's all about death. In the dark ages the death was represented by the reaper. He was dancing with helpless humans to lure them to hell.

So there will be a mixture of a theater play of the reaper scene with the melodies and the music of Solution Cycle. The organisation was done by the local priest Uwe Brand along with pupils of the vocational college of Bersenbrück. Currently the show is in the final preparation stage and a TV station called NDR has posted a article on their website in german. There is also a video up for viewing as well as some pictures giving you a idea of what's going on. You can see the people in action and hear some sounds of the band.
The band Solution Cycle has a page on Facebook where you can keep in touch with them and follow the further progress of the show preparation.
Update 2015-11-11: The show was a big success, many people showed up and the band played more songs than they had planned on that evening. You can get a idea of the event by checking out this article, once again of the TV station NDR. It features a nice description of the unusual show along with some pictures and a short video showing some reactions of visitors of the workship service. A daily newspaper called "Meppener Tagespost" also included a article about it with some pictures on their website.
Update 2015-11-13: Some more articles have surfaced. This one is of the german TV station SAT1 and has a cool video on it which features some footage of the live-show as well as interview material. Some more media was present at the show. This time german TV station RTL showed up and also captured some scenes for a video that is now up on their website.

A metal concert in a church?
Yeah, what do you think about this idea? Does it work out or should both sides not team up?
A band called "Solution Cycle" played their first ever gig last week in a church in Lower saxony / Northern germany in a small town called Nortrup-Loxten (that's near Osnabrück).
A TV megazine that reports about all the daily news happening in this region called NDR made a short news about it and I saw it on TV last friday. I thought it would be nice to let you guys out there know about it. You can get a impression of the event on the website of the TV station, there are pictures and some interview footage (sadly only in german language) available.
It's a nice bonus that the TV station has set up not only the mentioned site with a report in german and pictures but also uploaded the full show as a video for streaming. It's the full concert with a length of around 90 minutes. The stream will be up for a very limited time so better hurry if you want to check it out. If you don't want to watch the full concert but quickly check out how the band sounds then pick up this short video snippet of around a minute. A gives a short insight into the song "Fire of Life".

The concert was a big success, the band played to a packed house, a audience of around 400 people of nearly all ages showed up. The pastor himself was also involved into the concert as he spoke some lines of prayers that were embed into some of the songs.
In 2013 the same pastor already made another experiment. He invited a gothic band at the holy place and that did also work out fine with many people, mostly non-gothics showing up. For 2015 the pastor hopes to be able to do another experiment that opens the church up so more people may come to the church again and have a different experience. Wacken 2013 - see nine hours of stuff from this years WOA.
Starting on Friday the 13th at 20h (CEST) TV station NDR will stream shows and interviews on their website ndr.de The stream won't have a region lock, so everybody should be able to watch this!
Later on at midnight a five hour documentation about the festival will be broadcasted through their TV channel. (You should also be able to see this through the webstream of the TV station at http://www.ndr.de/fernsehen/livestream217.html).

Live-Streams from Wacken, Deichbrand and Reload Festival announced
The festival season has recently been started with the big Rock am Ring festival. The next stations are already in sight. German TV station NDR has now revealed that they will do Live-Streams from three festivals these year.
Update 2013/08/10: TV station NDR did broadcast a 60 minute best of the Reload Festival last night. They've added it to their streaming archive so make sure to check this site for some nice stuff from Airbourne, Caliban, At the gates and much more.
The biggest one is the well known Wacken Open Air, which is said to be the biggest metal festival worldwide. Deichbrand and the Reload festival both are still smaller also they start to grow. Below I've put together some info on all three festivals so you can have a quick idea, if the Livestreams will be something worth checking out for you.

Update 2013/08/05: Is it all over now? Yes, as for the festival itself. But not for the streaming. :-) zdf kultur has announced that they will show 10 performances of the festival following the event. Each day one band will be shown. There's even a stream of that TV station, I hope it works also outside of germany. So far these bands are said to be streamed, starting with Annihilator Monday night:

Sweden Rock Cruise 2012 documentation now online
The documentation about Sweden Rock Cruise
2012 in german language from the TV station NDR is now up online for streaming. It mostly shows
the atmosphere of the event seen from the perspective of the fans but
also features some short cuts from the performances of Morgana Lefay and
Rage plus some Interview footage with Rage. Duration app. 30 minutes. Have a look on it here. If you want to know more about what Sweden Rock Cruise is all about, just check out their official site with more info on it.
The very same night the documentation about the Wacken Open Air 2012 was also broadcasted again. As I did already say in my older post, they've also uploaded that documentation to their website, but did cut away the bands performances. Just to put up some complete info for you guys who missed the whole Metal Night Event on the german TV station NDR. Hope they will continue to put out such nice things to us.
The very same night the documentation about the Wacken Open Air 2012 was also broadcasted again. As I did already say in my older post, they've also uploaded that documentation to their website, but did cut away the bands performances. Just to put up some complete info for you guys who missed the whole Metal Night Event on the german TV station NDR. Hope they will continue to put out such nice things to us.

Wacken 2012 documentary and all bands from Wacken metal battle online
Meanwhile the german documentary "Heavy Metal trifft Karniggels" has been uploaded to this location.
Having taken a look at the stuff it seems to me that the documentary
stuff has been left in but the videos from the band performances have
been cut out. Guess that's because of legal rights missing to stream
this stuff. Anyway, nice they did put this one up at least as (optional HD) flash
videos and additionally also as Windows Media Stream in three qualities.If you want to know more about the director Detlev Buck, there is another german sub-website from NDR station describing his life and work quite in detail.
In addition to this they also did set up a subpage with all the performances of the bands that played at the "Wacken metal battle" Contest. So if you saw a band there that you liked a lot or just wanna checkt out some fresh new bands, this is the place for you to go. I counted 17 videos on that page. Great so see they support young bands that much.
If you like to see some interview footage (in german language) there's pretty much online from Wacken 2012. You can see bands like Overkill, Paradise Lost, Hammerfall, In Flames and more talking about their performances right here.

NDR to broadcast shows from Wacken 2012 & documentary
Wacken without end! :-) To all those how'd like to fresh up the memories of this years Wacken Open Air the german TV station NDR will help you out.
They will broadcast shows from Wacken 2012 (Graveyard, Leningrad Cowboys and Saxon) as well as a documentary report entitled „Heavy Metal trifft Karniggels” on September 14th 2012 on TV (starting time 21h in germany) and via internet on their Wacken subpage. After the stream the documentary has been annouced to be available as a free stream on demand divided into several small sections that will remain on the linked website. Actually there's already a talk with the director of the documentation online here.
To find your personal starting time of the stream I've discovered a fine website. Just click here and it will show you a selection of countries so you'll easily be able to find the correct time for your timezone. :-)

Livestream from Wacken 2012 is coming!
There will be a internet livestream from the Wacken 2012 Festival!
The following bands already confirmed that their shows will be shown
online: Overkill, Dimmu Borgir, U.D.O. und Hammerfall.
On Thursday, Friday and Saturday the stream will be online, starting at 18h (german time) and end at 1h in the night. On Sunday their will be a stream up from some shows of the previous days that hasn't been shown in the time before. More details like the full time-table will follow in the next days. I'll update this post when new info arrives.
The internetstream can be seen at this site of the german TV station NDR, thanks to them that they will give us the possibility to take part of this great event also in 2012!

The TV NDR station has put up the full Show from Cirle II Cirle for seven days on the Wacken subpage. The band performed Savatage's "The wake of Magellan" album in it's entirely so it's something very special.

The Wacken Homepage just revealed, that the german TV broadcasting station NDR will be uploading 20 new videos of Wacken 2011 till Christmas 2011!

Wacken Metal Battle 2011
From time to time I like to take a look at the statistics here on my blog. One of the most clicked one was the "Wacken 2011 revisited" one. I'm glad to see you like it!
As a reward for you here's a little add-on. Taking a closer look on the linked site with the Wacken video I discovered some more interesting stuff dedicated to new young bands. There's a subpage with live video's of yet unknown metal bands which took part in the metal battle contest.
The site is in german,but the style of each band is described mostly in the first sentence of each band describtion. Clicking on "Video starten" starts the video of the band on a new page as flash video. Have a nice time discovering some interesting fresh metal bands!
