Lords Of Salem spit fire in these silent times

In this time of no live shows it feels like water in the desert when you're able to see a artist perform at all.

I had a lot of fun as I checked out Lords Of Salems newest live recording. The  heavy Rock band seeds a heavy potion of power in the 25 minutes of the video duration. It reminded me a lot of a mixture between harder Alice Cooper songs and the abrasive vocals of Udo Dirkschneider.

Besides that I warmly welcome the directness of the sound Lords Of Salem perform with. You can rock out straight to the music without need to dig in too deep into the sound. That's the fun we need in these times!

Besides that the video has a very professional presentation on a bigger stage with fine lightshow and fire effects and even a girl spitting some fire.

Make sure to purchase the first EP "Hell Over Salem" produced by Achim Köhler so the band can continue to spread more fun in the future.

Darkwell bridge time with intensive performance video

Symphonic metallers Darkwell released their album "Moloch" to positive reactions some time ago. As the band told me they're currently back in songwriting mode having taken a break before.

The cover of Darkwell's "Moloch" already shows that something different from all the other is going on with the sound of this band.
To help skip the waiting time until something new surfaces the band has taken the chance to put out a live video of the "Moloch" track "Clandestine". That one picked my attention. It captures the joy but also the full concentration the musicians put into their performance really well. It also shows the reactions of the audience starting positive but let's say in a waiting way. They move over to realise the quality of the material and finally giving back with positive feedback.

Make sure to keep track of what's going on further with a like click on Darkwell's Facebook page or see the band's website for updates.

The W.A.B. keep it short and heavy on new clip

Does a good song need to be long? I don't think so. This particular one of the brutal Punkband W.A.B. is just round 1 minute and 51 seconds in duration and kicks it heavy and straight. It reminds me of old Motörhead tracks that also got straight to the meat.

Anyway, it still has it's fine notes worked in every here and there so it's not only a brutal whirlwind all the way. There's also a surprising part coming in at the end. I love that - it freshes the whole song up and shows what the band is able to do in songwriting.

This is already the third single the band has put out. It's taken of the record "...and kill the worms" available from Suburban Attack Records. The cool thing is that this band only consists of two people and the drummer also does the vocals. That's something I rarely came along. If you happen to know of other sticksmen that also serve the words - please let me know.

Follow The W.A.B. further with a liker on Facebook or show them your support on Bandcamp.

P.S. Also make sure to listen to the other singles on Bandcamp, you won't be disappointed if you already liked this heavy 'n' quick introduction into the band's sound.

Blacktop Mojo calls to keep the heart free in new video

Music can set emotions free. They come out for me the most and in it's purest form when a band plays a acoustic track. I don't know why but it's always a deeply moving moment for me. I can't say anything just sit there feeling touched so deep inside.

This moment came along as I recently sat at my laptop and watched a live recording of Blacktop Mojo's acoustic performance for the song "Underneath". Enjoy every second of this fragile and breathtaking performance.

Besides the fine music the lyrics hold a important piece of advice for living life. Nathan Gillis, Drummer of the band explains what the band want's to express with this track.

"I've seen firsthand how bitterness and anger can destroy a person from the inside out. This song is about that, but also saying "I understand what happened, and I'm sorry you went through the painful things  that brought you to this point" Keep your heart free , forgive people even if they don't deserve it."

The studio version of this song comes of the band's great record entitled "Burn The Ships". Don't miss out this gem and make sure to pick up a copy out of the band's hands.

MONSTER celebrates Halloween with livevideo single

This weekend there can be once again heard the call for trick or treat at the door. It's time for Halloween and many bands out there are doing gigs where they dress in proper clothes and play for the audience or are setting up some nice goodies for the fans.

The Halloween candlelight greets you!

The same thing may have been on the mind when MONSTER decided to do a recap of this years show at the Coast Rock Open Air and hand the output in form of a live video out to their fans out there. The cool thing is that they've picked the Track "Random Acts of Undead Empathy" as a song for the video single release.

That one has been amongst my favorites ever since the band dropped their first full length album "The Arrival" in 2014. As for me it's a perfect blend of the thrash classics of the 80s but in a completly "Take no prisoners" attitude. The songs shot out directly without too much solos and experiments all around. Plus there's the voice of Alex who keeps them in a dark and death-metal like style yet they are clear enough to be fully enjoyable and listenable. Then there is the fun factor. While it's hard music it never misses out to give you a good feeling in the end. That's what not many bands come around with. Just give their new video a spin and I think you'll quickly know what I mean.

MONSTER are offering their album as download completly free of charge on their Soundcloud account. Anyway I'd like to point you to there Facebook page where you can message them if you'd like to place a order for a copy on CD for only 5 Euro plus 2 more bucks for shipping and handling for residents in Germany or add 4 more Euro for worlwide shipping. You can also use their E-Mail to place your order more quickly and easy.

If you're living in Germany you may be happy to know that the band has two shows in coming. Here are the dates:

04. November 2016  J.V.A. Club, Ludwigsfelde
05. November 2016 Juz Klex, Greifswald

Brutai share Bloodstock 2016 memories along new track "Relapse"

The outdoor festival is over and out. But it's nice that we sometimes can collect some sweet memories of those times that we may recall later. Brutai have had a little look back recently when they looked through their live footage of their performance at the Bloodstock Open Air 2016. They decided to share it along with a reworked album version of the song "Relapse" which is taken of the forthcoming record entitled "Born". Read more about the upcoming release further down underneath the video.

As for me this is fine, outworked and well structured modern metal music. I like the ongoing constant vocals which change all the while during the track all along with the technical aspects. For example the bass guitar lines have much varitaions to offer and the keyboards come in slightly to create a atmosphere that adds to the overall topic of the track. The drums are a monster pushing the whole track. It's heavy but always in a way you still feel comfortable while listening.

The band have just signed to Transcend Music, and 'Born' will be out on 25th November 2016. You can preorder the record here.

The band's album launch party will be in collaboration with Transcend Music's Christmas Party at The Borderline on 22nd November. You can buy tickets for the show right here or see more details about the event on Facebook.

Also make sure to stay up to date with Brutai on Facebook.

Morphelia release 3 cam mix video of Northern Prog Festival

Sometimes, yes only sometimes there's a song and band out there that gives you this freezin' chills that make you feel so good. They help you escape from the daily gray, the dark and cloudy winter weather we are currently rolled in.

This little moment has just happened. I saw a live video from the band "Morphelia", a superb and excellent Progrock and progressive Metal band from Lower Saxony, Germany. Maybe this little post can help to reach out and touch some of you out there to make more people aware of them.

The cover of the current album "Waken the nightmare", (c) by Morphelia . Used with kind permission.

They are sort of a band which offers music to let you drift and dream away but never misses this groovy touch so it never feels boring or standing still. One of the bands you could compare them best to is the band Saga. But better than any words could ever do music speaks out for itselfs so please click the play button and enjoy some fine music and video (it's a fine three cam mix done from the guys at the Background Megazine).

I like the detailed work on this one, all of the elements are arranged in such a harmonic way that fits together perfectly. Most of all the atmosphere is supported by the fine keyboards and the whole excitement lasts for the full ten minutes duration of this track. That's something quite few band can come up with.

I've seen Morphelia myselves back in 2011 and they were awesome. A friend of mine made me aware of them and we spontanously drove over to the show. Never forgot that evening. Most of all the bass guitar solo. I've had the honour to see quite a lot of good bass guitar players so far but Renko Rickers is absolute excellent on his instrument.

Don't miss out to see Morphelias website to learn more about this excellent band. They also have a account on youtube as well as a page on myspace if you prefer to connect to them through these pages.

The band is working on a new album at the moment and sends out a newsletter through E-Mail from time to time. It includes information on the the recording process as well as about past and upcoming shows of the band. It comes in both, german and english language. Just enter your E-Mail adress into the proper field on the right row directly at the homepage underneath the Vossphor-Records Logo (please scroll down a little bit to see it).

The band recently played at the Northern Prog Festival in Siegerwoude in the Netherlands on November 1st 2014. If you want to read a detailed live review about the festival as well as some photos of all the bands playing then head over to the Background megazine. They've put together a fine detailed check up of the full festival.

3 Doors Down acoustic liveshow to be streamed online

Okay, 3 Doors Down are surely no underdogs but a big name in the world of Rock Music. Anyway, there songs have something in my eyes - a extra potion of feelings and a good combination of rhythm and melody. Plus I've got the feeling that the band has still something to say. Musically and also from the lyrics side that often have a deep message inside of them.

Tonight (10th September 2014) the bands acoustic set at Tabernacle, Atlanta, GA has been announced to be streamed online through the Yahoo Live service for free. Just jump over to the stream page to see it.

The official time has been set for 2:00 a.m. CT (I think this time-stamp goes for my American visitors) or 2:00 am CEST (this goes for my European visitors). If you have other informations on this please let me know. Enjoy and have a good time!

Wacken Metal Battle 2011

From time to time I like to take a look at the statistics here on my blog. One of the most clicked one was the "Wacken 2011 revisited" one. I'm glad to see you like it!

As a reward for you here's a little add-on. Taking a closer look on the linked site with the Wacken video I discovered some more interesting stuff dedicated to new young bands. There's a subpage with live video's of yet unknown metal bands which took part in the metal battle contest.

The site is in german, but the style of each band is described mostly in the first sentence of each band describtion. Clicking on "Video starten" starts the video of the band on a new page as flash video. Have a nice time discovering some interesting fresh metal bands!
