Breathtaking proggers Acolyte to livestream from Chapel off Chapel

All bands add a lot to the music cosmos. But having had a ear on the single "Entropy" of Acolyte took my breathe. What I heard was pure crying from the very depths of the soul.

It's not happening often that I can hear the heartbeat of a band but Acolyte provided this through their music to me. While most of the track comes a heavy way it's the transition towards a slow and dream/nightmare-like style at the end that never seems to end that got me in so deep.

And this very band is going to host a global streaming event at the intimate and iconic venue in Melbourne, 'Chapel off Chapel'. Acolyte's live performance guarantees a stunning, powerful and emotive musical experience that will bring their new songs to life in a live setting.

The interactive streaming event will premiere on SUNDAY JUNE 6TH 2021 [But will be available for rewatch] 9pm AEST/ 7pm AWST / 12pm BST/ 1pm CEST / 9am EDT

Tickets on sale now and there is a tiered pricing structure so fans can choose what they wish to pay to discover and experience the fast rising prog metal act. https://acolyte.veeps.com/

Livestream Calendar 2020/2021

Since the pandemic is still having us all in heavy grip the only way to have some live music experience is coming through the internet. My last post about this is already a bit older so I decided to open up a new one.

Please consider giving a little donation or buy some band merch if you like what you see or hear. Broadcasting livestreams sadly ain't a free thing. Bands need to have some equipment for it that they usually don't have so they need to buy or lend it at least mostly in exchange for some cash.

Livestream-Review: Anvil - L'Anti Bar, Quebec City 04.07.2020

Can a livestream event really fit properly to showcase a band's abilities? Anvil proved that it is possible.

Anvil at the very beginning of the set.

The Canadian legend Anvil is well known for all their classics. Recently the band dropped a new full length called "Legal at last". Like so many other bands they had to cancel the already booked shows. The guys behind the L'Anti Bar invited the band for a livestream performance. People who wanted to attend needed to purchase a virtual ticket in advance but were rewarded very well for their money.

The band opened up with a blast of a instrumental intro. It gave a taste that a well balanced and crystal clear sound has been set up. They were on fire that night.

You could see that Anvil had a lot of fun. They smiled all the way through the set, most of all Lips who once more showed why he is a solid frontman. Bassist Chris Robertson choose to move back and forth to the whole songs while showing grimace every here and there. Very cool!

The band showed that they had a lot of fun performing live.

Other times the band showed some guitar-posing in the form of Accept. Applause was added to the sound as no real audience was allowed to show up but the text responses in the chatbox spoke for themselves. They were some lags in the beginning of the stream. Maybe a control panel to change the quality of the steam could help out to prevent such things the next time.

Lips had his typical humor and short banter with him. He had a great high-toned voice on that night. I liked the band introduction. Everyone was allowed to do a solo starting with bassist Chris Robertson. Robb Reiner was unbelievable on that night. He showed a precise drumming that sharply followed the guitars on every step. His drum solo was one of the most entertaining one's I've heard and seen in a long time. Finally Steve Kudlow gave his well known dildo-guitar performance. It was a lot of fun.

Robb Reiner performed a impressive drum solo and overall performance.
The band played for a good ninty minutes and rounded the set with a blasting cover of "Born to be wild" and the iconic classic "Metal on metal". I can only hope they will do more live shows in the near future. I would choose to see them every time again.

Keep a eye on the band's Facebook page. Let's hope we're lucky enough to see the band performing live in the future again.

Rock am Ring 2017 livestream coming up

Speaking of livestreams - the festival season once again is drawing near.

One of the biggest of them is Rock am Ring here in Germany. The message just came in that this year there will be a livestream once again hosted on the sites of the german Telekom (a big telephone and cellphone service provider in Germany).

It will start on June 2nd and feature seven livestreams all based at this location. For the first time you'll be able to capture one of the streams with the 360 degrees feature. This should give you at least a little more festival feeling with it.

All recordings of the shows will stay online as a stream on demand for 30 days.

These years line-up of Rock am Ring features System of a Down, In Flames. Airbourne, Alter Bridge and many more. Just check the schedule to see who's playing and when.

Finally remember to visit local Open Airs from time to time and support organizers and bands with a purchase there. You'll help to keep the festivals and bands alive who all have costs to cover as well all have to. Please keep that in mind.

Tethra to play and stream live show on empty venue

I dislike to complain. It's useless to me in life. But facing the fact that it's hard to make people attend a live show these days needs to be talked in my eyes. I know from self experience that we are all cut short of money.

But only attending performances through a livestream? I stream a lot here on the page through embeding stuff.  But it's all just to give everyone a quick check in to music.

At least one show at a time should be able to many people. So this experiment of Italy's melancholic doom/death metallers Tethra found my attention. This should help us all to get the focus on the topic.

The band says in their own words: "In recent years, many small and medium-sized clubs dedicated to metal music have closed or changed their genre because of the low attendance at the concerts.

It's a global phenomenon that, if it does not have a clear turnabout, will oblige all industry employees to make drastic decisions.

We would like to raise awareness among all fans of the genre, assuming a catastrophic scenario for the next future: what will happen when the last live club closes its doors? Will emerging bands play no more or will they totally rely on aseptic live streaming from rehearsal studio and improvised venues?

For this reason, Thursday 8th June at 22pm (CET time), we'll play a full set Live Streaming show in a real live venue open just for us, furthermore, to give everyone the opportunity to participate in this event, we'll keep the video online for 24 hours.

You can follow the event through our Facebook page: www.facebook.com/TethraHell

The flyer for the Tethra show at a empty venue, (c) by Tethra, used with kind permission
This is our particular contribution to the cause, hoping to be able to induce a reflection before this catastrophic scenario becomes a reality, because that night we will create a paradox that more than one band has had to endure in its career: playing in an empty room ... will you be with us?"

If you don't know the band yet here's their current lyric video:

For all those living in germany it should be mentioned that the show of Die Toten Hosen will be aired exclusively through the TV station Das Erste. From 8th to 14th June special broadcasts of the format "BEATZZ in concert" will daily show off stuff of the festival starting each day at midnight.

Prior to the Rock am Ring fest a radio stream will update people in germany and nearby of the things going on in the festivak location Mendig. For all those who don't live there: you can listen to it through the apps for amartphones. Pick your copy for the iOS or get the version for the Android smartphone system.
A webbased version of this so called Ringradio can be found on the website of SWR3.

After the festival you'll find some stuff of the festival online from 8th June to 12th June 2015 on the websites of SWR and DasDing.

Most of all: have fun through the festival days and enjoy summer!
